stiggy Posted June 24, 2006 Report Posted June 24, 2006 (edited) Hi I am using a friends account ( I see he has no posts, guess he just uses it for browsing) and sorry if this type of post has been posted a million times, I am a memeber of an Audi forum and understand your pain when the same thing is beat to death but I dont really have time to search and I just tried to search but it kept failing (guess im not doing it right on this forum). Well here goes, I am helping out another friend to get his banshee going good, we just ordered a Vito's 404 big bore kit and Vito's cool head for his banshee but I was looking around for a good set of used pipes but wasn't sure if something worked better than the other for the big bore kit. I can get a used Pro Circuit set for $250 (pipes and silencers) or a used FMF Gnarly set for $250 as well so I was curious if one of these would work well or if I should look for something else? Thanks for your help guys. One more thing how do you think this thing is gonna run with these mods. We got the Vito's 404 big bore and cool head like said above, jet kit, a boost bottle, K&N filter to run open air box, 1 tooth up in front (he wants to go faster top end) and whatever exhaust you recommend? Do the big bore kits make that big of a difference? Thanks guys David Edited June 24, 2006 by stiggy Quote
Gargamel Posted June 24, 2006 Report Posted June 24, 2006 is it ported? what type of riding? just boring the cylinders is just wasting furture bores when you need them on rebuilds I can't comment on the Pro Circuits cause I have nevr used them but the Gnarly's are a low end pipe. If he wants top then T-5 or a drag pipe would be better. You'd get more power porting then boring the cylinders. Quote

The riding is just screwing around in trails and stuff like that (no race track riding) and the cylinders aren't bored, they get new sleeves put in, which can easily be taken out later. Quote

stiggy Posted June 25, 2006 Author Report Posted June 25, 2006 uh ? well you're no help. I hope that wasn't a sarcastic remark. Well if anyone else out there has some input that will help, it would be appreciated. Quote

Thanks guys David ya i am thinking about getting a 404cc kit also. i have the tomomey 5's, but im sure the FMF ones will work. i would go with the t5's. and if i were you i would get rid of the boost bottle. i had one, and banshee users said it had very very little effect. so i got rid of mine. and a big difference.? hell yes.. going from a 350cc to a 404cc. thats a difference.. i am also getting a port job.. the pipes, bore, and port job with be your biggest changes.. it will rooost if you get those. BigRed350x Posted June 25, 2006 Report Posted June 25, 2006 I would prob. go with the T5's myself. They are a good all around pipe. I've run lots of pipes in the past and the T5s are a pretty safe bet for any kind of riding. You won't have any trouble with them on the 404 kit. Personally I wouldn't go with Big Bore pipes until you step up to a pretty serious stroker, but I'm sure others will tell you otherwise. Quote
stiggy Posted June 25, 2006 Author Report Posted June 25, 2006 thanks for the replies guys, I was looking at the t5 pipes as well they just seemed to be a little more but if that is the best bet then I will let my buddy know. And about that boost bottle I told him it probably wouldn't do anything but he said he had to have it just because it sounded cool so I said whatever, he is an impulse buyer and I was reading stuff off to him and he wanted me to order it as well, guess it's not a big loss since it was only $28 Quote

Keep the crossover tube. Its cleaner, and you can use the boost bottle for an over-flow tank or something. Quote

Waste of money and can cause problems later I'd still get porting, carbs, reeds, and a stroker crank before a bore kit. and if he wants top speed again stay away from the gnarly's. Go with T5 or rocket's (if you can find a good set :baseball_original: ) Quote
