ok first i have a set of 34mm pj carbs i got from wicked that were machined by sudco. I have a .040 over stock stroke with vito's superestock pistons so i've got a little exhaust advance but im worried the bigger carbs will be to much for the bike. and second off can i use the stock air box with these or must i use pods and do i need an intake manifold for them?

so i've got a little exhaust advance

do what.

unless your ported you really wont need bigger carbs imo

wes is right, you don't need bigger carbs just because your bored a little, you do go up in carb size when you have some porting done though......I'd put your stockers back on, you will be much happier!

yeah and then sell the34's to me really cheap :baseball_w00t:

no but really put the carbs on with some big pods and you will not be disapointed.

the exhaust side of the piston is cut a little so it advances the exhaust port timing sort of a cheap port job right? I have the 34's already so id figure id try them at least but really want to know if i must have the intake manifold and pod filters?Im looking at a seeet of TDR ported jugs right now anyhow so im going to evetually go with the bigger carbs.

Really that's one thing that a lot of people misunderstand about the reasoning behind cut pistons.....It may gain you like 1 horsepower, (do to lightening them up) but will terribly hurt the integrity/durability of a pistons life, If you make it over one season w/ cut pistons your doing well.....anyway, what a person is benefitting behind cutting pistons is only heat distribution....I've visited with the biggest builders about this issue in the U.S. and they have confirmed from dyno results that it's NOT worth doing.....Just a tidbit of info for anyone considering getting their pistons cut before a build....I think anymore there's only a couple builders that will still do it

i may be wrong but i was under the impression that the reason behind the cut int he exhaust side of the piston dome (vito's superstock pistons) was to advane the port timing almost like raising the exhaust port would do in a port job.I understand that it isnt as significant as porting the cylinder would be but it brought life to the bike. but what i really wanna know is what kind of intake i should run and if i can run a stock filter?

do you ride in sand or woods? if sand ditch airbox. looks so much better, makes pulling carbs off a breeze, etc.

if you run in woods, i would leave box with pro design adaptor and lid off. Vitos has all the boot adaptors you will need

i have a stock bore/unported shee with vitos super stock pistons and i run 35mm pwks with clamp on KN's. It runs great. Before anyone says anything i bought carbs because of great deal and future motor mods {porting-noss machine head} will help motor grow into bigger carbs. Honestly it was worth it just for the looks and ease of working on, though
