Animalman294 Posted June 5, 2006 Report Posted June 5, 2006 With a compression tester of course........ You can get them from local shops or any of the common ATV sites on the internet. You take out the spark plug and screw the tester in just like the plug and kick the motor over until the needle stops moving. The highest reading will be your compression. Do that to both sides and they should have the same reading give or take a few pounds, but if they are off a lot, then you have problems that need to be addressed............. Quote
810darren Posted June 5, 2006 Report Posted June 5, 2006 5 kicks on each side shouldnt have to kick over to much more than that Quote
RIPPEN Posted June 6, 2006 Report Posted June 6, 2006 5 kicks on each side shouldnt have to kick over to much more than that Your kidding right??? I kicked mine between 40-50 times before I KNEW the needle wasn't moving anymore. That may have been a tad excessive but at 5 kicks you aint gonna see jack. Also make sure you pull out BOTH plugs and hold wipe open throttle while kicking. I might be wrong but I heard you want the two cyl within 10% of each other RIPPEN Quote
Animalman294 Posted June 7, 2006 Report Posted June 7, 2006 Ya, 10% sounds about right. Plus it's easier to kick over if you pull the plugs, reducing the back pressure on your foot .......... Quote
dawarriorman Posted June 7, 2006 Report Posted June 7, 2006 5 kicks on each side shouldnt have to kick over to much more than that Uh, no. Try more than 10. Personally I kick about 15-20 times. Quote
