hey everyone... first post but anyways after i bought the toomey tr6's i removed the water bottle and tied the hose around the steering stem which doesnt make that much sense to me because when the radiator is full the overflow outlet is only about an inch above that so when your ridin hard wouldnt your antifreeze be spilling out?....... anyways every time i ride mine it overheats and i can only ride for like 20 mins and then i gotta fill the radiator back up so i dont seize my motor up tighter then a nuns cunt lol now i know this could be because of my jetting being becasue it is and i cant rejet becasue i have no killswitch to shut it off but im taking it to the dealership next week..... has anyone else have or had this problem?

Sounds a little goofy ? The overflow bottle does'nt do anything , its there for inviromental reasons , if I had to take a guess I'd say your radiator cap is'nt holding down pressure like it should , or your just just boggon it around letin it heat up

i got the same pipes and removed my over flow with no problems...... its not a recirculating system so it doesnt matter, its just there for environmental reasons. If u keep filling u'r rad up to the top when it heats up it will come out the over flow... it doesnt mean its over heating.. it just means its too full. i was told by one person that when the bike cools down it sucks the anti freeze back int the rad from the bottle, but i dont know.... toomey told me its unnessary. but many people do it with no problems. i beat the livin shit out of mine and it never over heats.

nah im not boggin it all lol i ride it like it was made to be rode... after a 5 min ride you can hear it bublin out onto the pipes maybe im jus fillin it up too much or my jetting being off could be causing perhaps?

I removed mine and ran the overflow hose down the frame to the bottom, that way if it overheats I can see the steam. The only time mine has ever ovreheated is when I'm going the same direction as the wind and have no air through the rad.

Lets get some more info is you bike newer older what? how long have you owned it and how long have you had this problem?

[ The overflow bottle does'nt do anything , its there for inviromental reasons ] WRONG !!! It's there to keep your radiator completely full of coolant, No AIR. when your bike warms up and the water expands, coolant is pushed into the coolant RECOVERY bottle. As your bike cools down that coolant will be drawn back into your radiator. Keeping your radiator full, all the way to the bottom of the cap with no air. Water is 100 times better at transfering heat than air is. From his description Banshee9o9 probably has more of a problem than just a missing recovery bottle. But stop telling everyone that the coolant bottle doesn't matter! My riding buddy thought the same way until I convinced him to put it back on. He doesn't overheat anymore.

yeah but think about it you really dont need the bottle. theres no point in putting the extra coolant back in when it cools off considering when it heats up itll just get pushed back out. another thing to think about is do water cooled dirtbikes have bottles no they dont why bc you dont need them.

No But my truck has one :) Make it more obvious when to top off your coolant as well.

First thing to do is take off the radiator cap and clean all the crud off the inside of it making sure you get a good seal.

one thing you could try is riggin' up a temp gauge. I got one on mine, used a meat thermometer and put a T-fitting in that small hose that goes from the top of the radiater to the front of the head. it works awesome for me, I allways know exactly how hot my bike is running. in the trails it usuall stays about 120 to 130 degrees, depending on how hard I ride.

When I cut a couple 4th gear wide open dounuts it gets to about 160 or more

If you don't have a bottle you'll suck in air. You need that radiator FULL. It's small

i understand that but what im trying to say is its just going to push the fluid back out once it heats back up. also if its over heating enough to push it out you might want to look for other problems. since iv had my bike i dont think there has even been fluid in the water bottle and i ride in temps around 100 degrees.

i think i found the problem cuz about a week ago i had a bad oring on the coolhead so the whole radiator drained into the motor and filled up the pipes... so i riggedit back together with some gasket seal temporary..... now when i shut it off you can hear it boilin in the pipe and it smokes like hell so i need to get a new oring kit and i think that should fix it :headbang:
