250RTONE Posted May 19, 2006 Report Posted May 19, 2006 Bone stock engine, fmf fatty pipes and silencers, pro flow intake with a k&n, lid on, my elevation is approx 4500 ft and i am adding a adjustable timing plate. What carb settings would you suggest and how much can i or should i advance the timing?? Quote
bigboybanshee Posted May 19, 2006 Report Posted May 19, 2006 You shouldn't have to change the jetting at all. If you run premium pump gas, you could bump it up a few degrees and won't hurt anything. I was running +4 timing back when I had similar mods to yours, but I was also running a Noss head with increased compression. The head would be a good next mod for you, along with reeds Quote
250RTONE Posted May 19, 2006 Author Report Posted May 19, 2006 So would 280 manis be fine......? Quote
sheefreak Posted May 19, 2006 Report Posted May 19, 2006 Is that what you previously ran before bumping the timing, or is everything new? That sounds close for your elevation. Fatty's like a little bigger pilot, but at your elevation you might be able to get away w/closing your airscrews down a bit. Needle in stock pos, maybe move clip down one toward the pointed end. 250RTONE Posted May 20, 2006 Author Report Posted May 20, 2006 The jetting is as suggested by FMF, just curious if i should change anything. Quote
cdwood37 Posted May 21, 2006 Report Posted May 21, 2006 i am at 5500 feet and that jetting seems a little fat to me i was running a 250 main up here so maybe a 260 main would be closer try a 270 and work down Quote
cudaz101 Posted May 23, 2006 Report Posted May 23, 2006 I ride @ 4K alot and run a 290 clip in 3rd position...But I run a K&N with no lid and +4 timing. I think you are at a good starting spot. Regardless of what you decide to start with you are going to have to change it a couple times before its right anyways. Brad Quote
