Hi guys,

Do any of you guys use Mobil1 full Syn oil? When I bought my shee I went to the local Dealer and he sold me Yamahlub so thats what I used. I use nothing but Mobil1 in my truck and was wondering if I can use it in my shee.

I also wanted to know how often you all lub your chain.

Thanks

Agree with the rat...:)

No synths.

Before I go for a long ride, I'll take a quick 2 or 3 minute rip to "heat up" the chain.

Then, I'll come back, oil her up...and let it sit for 10 minutes or so.

Then...off again. I'll usually put a light coat of WD40 or PB Blaster on my chain right after I wash it...to keep the rust off, espeically if I know I won't be riding for a few weeks ( :( )

I am like you I use mobile 1 in my truck. I worked at s&s cycle for a year and Anne the chick that ran some of the motor break-ins and timed runs on the the test stand showed me why to use mobil 1 in the crank case on v-twins. the clutch in the primary a different story. I use mobil mxt2 for the pre mix and bel-ray gear saver in the trans case. no problems with carbs gooin up and the ports stay pretty clean, no bearing problem and I run 40 to 1 on the mix.

my 2 cents. Jim

True... Motorcycle gear oil and synthetic motor oil are two different things.

As far as penzoil 2 cycle...unless there's another kind, the only stuff I've seen is Walmart and it's used for lawnmowers/weedeaters...

If they have a better product, I"m all ears...:)

I've always run Maxima Super M. In my old TS250 (73), quadracer, 94 CR250 and 97 CR250s.... Never had a ring/engine failure...

Running it in my Cub at 40:1 with 110 leaded race gas...this should be it's toughest test!!

I am still a little confused.

A yes on the Pennzoil for mixing with gas? and I no for the gears?

The guy from Yamaha gave me 20/40 for the gears but the book says 10/30 which is it? Its coming up on oil change time.

On your own for the premix...

I'd run a gear oil type for the transmission...

A lot of people run BelRay Gearsaver 80W oil. All I've ever run...no problems...

I've used Mobil1 15-50 synthetic which doesn't have any of the known friction modifiers (moly)that cause wet clutch systems to slip. I've used it in my CBR with 23k miles on it, never a problem and still on the stock clutch. I've used it in my banshee for the last 7 yrs and now with a cub and still never a slip. I use the Mx2t for the pre-mix, excellent stuff.
