avc8130 Posted May 7, 2006 Report Posted May 7, 2006 1 of the grease fittings on my a-arms will not take grease. All of the others I can use my grease gun on and get the grease to come out on the sides. This one fitting just spits out around the gun fitting. I took the fitting off and cleaned it out real nice thinking the ball was stuck. This didn't work. Anyone have any experiences? I think I might take the arm off and clean out that bushing real nice...maybe it is just caked up? ac Quote
sandman Posted May 7, 2006 Report Posted May 7, 2006 Had a similar experience with a zerk on mine. Turns out I had a little sand in it, ended up throwing it away & putting a new one in. P.S. there metric Quote
BansheeBrian Posted May 7, 2006 Report Posted May 7, 2006 When I'm in a rush sometimes I'd push the ball in with a pen or something to jar it loose then give it the gun.I'm sure Sandman's reply sounds more practical to you. Quote
Bansh88 Posted May 7, 2006 Report Posted May 7, 2006 I have the same problem with one of my lower a arm fittings. Quote
pipebomb Posted May 7, 2006 Report Posted May 7, 2006 they make a little tool to free those up. it's like a little impact driver kinda thing you fill w. oil and give it a whack. supposed to use hydaulic preesure to free it up and lube it, so you don't gouge to ballbearing. some cat was selling them on ebay. this isn't the one I meant, but it's simlar to what he had. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/KD-Tools-Ra...sspagenameZWD1V Quote
MILO Posted May 8, 2006 Report Posted May 8, 2006 there real cheap bud, hit up a local stealership or good auto parts store. i'm sure it's cheaper and 10x less hassle than some special tool. get a new zerk and grease away. Quote
dirt-riceburner Posted May 8, 2006 Report Posted May 8, 2006 I had the same problem. The spring and the ball was rusted closed. Take it off and get a new one. It's only a couple of bucks for a stainless one. You can buy them at the local boat supply store for stainless. Make sure to get the stainless otherwise it'll rust fast and you'll have the same problem. Quote
avc8130 Posted May 8, 2006 Author Report Posted May 8, 2006 I can move the ball in with a screwdriver. So it isnt completely stuck. Could it just be that it is too much resistance for the grease to push it down? ac Quote
