platinumjason Posted May 1, 2006 Report Posted May 1, 2006 (edited) Anyone happen to know if Toomey made different diameter silencers? I got a set here for T-4 Pipes and I also have a pair of Sparky spark arrestors that will not fit the silencers because the diameter of the silencer is too big. I emailed Toomey asking if the Hush Kit would fit T-4's and they said they use the same silencers as T-5's but I dont see how seeing how the base part that gets the snap ring put on it to hold it on is the same size as these spark arrestors. The end of the silencers are so big that I can fit the entire end of the sparky in about 2 inches or so. Is there some special end cap that I need to make these work or will I need new silencers or anything to get these to work at all. Outer diameter on these silencers is 3". Can anyone else measure theirs and see what you come up with for size? I'll post some pics to give you guys a better idea of what Im talking about. Edited May 1, 2006 by platinumjason Quote
80overShee Posted May 2, 2006 Report Posted May 2, 2006 I wish I still had my silencers, I'd send em too ya to make it work but i threw me out, they were pretty trashed from a hard wreck. Sorry about the fit....like you said Toomey says they should fit, they fit mine. Are you sure those silencers are from T4's and not an earlier line? Quote
platinumjason Posted May 3, 2006 Author Report Posted May 3, 2006 Could be something earlier but I really dont know how to tell, I emailed Toomey again and they are pretty picky about which emails they want to reply too. I didnt even think about how big the silencers were when I got the pipes either I just wanted to get them repacked and ready to put on and when I got the sparkys out I knew there was a problem once I grabbed them. Im thinking maybe it could be a way older silencer because Toomey said the Hush Kit would fit T-4's which are they same size as the sparkys so maybe they are from something else. Oh well Im just going to end up selling them and going with T-5's so I know I will have no issues. Quote
80overShee Posted May 3, 2006 Report Posted May 3, 2006 Ok, I don't want you to be upset with me or them. They are a great way to have use a spark arrestor. Screw that hush kit, it really sucks. Quote
platinumjason Posted May 5, 2006 Author Report Posted May 5, 2006 Nah, not upset with you or the sparkies, they are exactly what was showed and described, no problems there. As for Toomey telling me that they will fit any of their silencers because they are all the same is what makes me mad. Quote
badassbanshee479 Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 http://www.denniskirk.com/jsp/product_cata...Id=10902&mmyId= should be all you need to get into silver lake. never had a prblem with my bike not making db and it is way louder than toomeys are Quote
dajogejr Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 You could also measure the diameter of the lip on the stinger... I got mine from Magic Racing in Shelby, MI. You'll pay about 6 or 7 for shipping, but you'll have it next day. 586-254-9117. Quote
badassbanshee479 Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 I am sure dune land up at silver lake has some slip on sparkys that will work with these silencers also. cheaper than buying another set of pipes. but to each his own. Quote
dajogejr Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 Yeah...but David Allen Racing (is that what you mean, JT?) is pricey as hell... My buddy went to get a smaller rear sprocket for his 480R up there a few weeks ago, they wanted like 60 bucks for it, and all they had was Aluminimum...which would've lasted him a day... They are good for emergencies, plugs, etc. But...they are expensive. Hell...I would be too, though...where else you gonna go? Quote
badassbanshee479 Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 yeah thats where I am talkin, but I bought my sparkys for my shearers there and they where 65 a piece. aluminum sprockets are more money than steel ones but the price may have been alittle high still. Quote
