trinityshee Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 ok i am finnaly putting my engine back togher and in doing so i found a adjuster behind the clutch basket area and kick start area to be loose and almost backed out i check ed the online maual but couldnt find how to adjust it can any one please help me this thing hasa flat head screww driver adjuster anda like a 17mm jam nut around it Quote

yyz Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 pull the clutch and basket back off, put the tranny in 2nd or 3rd gear... or 4th gear... any gear except 1st or neutral... with the jam nut loose, turn the adjuster rod with a flat head one way or the other until there is an equal distance between the top and bottom arms that grab the shift star... check and re-check to make sure they are equal... then without moving the adjuster shaft, tighten the jam nut then bend over the lock tab... put everything back together... if the adjustment is tight on the top, it will favor downshifting, tight on the bottom will favor upshifting... if it is not even, you probably will have trouble getting into neutral... when even, it should shift great... also, while you are at it, check for any worn areas on the adjuster pin, shift star, etc. then replace as necessary. good luck, yyz Quote
