platinumjason Posted April 23, 2006 Report Posted April 23, 2006 Well I have my Shift Pro kit sitting here and was wondeirng if there is anything I should know beforing starting it, see it says to drain oil and coolant. As for removing clutch basket, is there anything I can mess up doing this? I've never had to take one apart before so Im not sure what Im exactly dealing with here. Anyone else on here ever install one? Any info is much appreciated, thanks. Quote
pipebomb Posted April 23, 2006 Report Posted April 23, 2006 (edited) it's easy. if you have a clymers manual, just follow the directions they give. you're gonna want to use an air impact to loosen the nut for the inner hub and clutch basket. I recommend getting a "grabbit" to hold the inner hub to keep it from spinning. the only thing I had to do was re-adjust the clutch throw-out after I reassembled it. Must have knocked it out a bit when I had the clutch pack out, cause the pressure plate wouldn't go back in all the way. minor prob, 5 minutes to fix. Edited April 23, 2006 by pipebomb Quote

rsheppick Posted April 23, 2006 Report Posted April 23, 2006 or put a rag in. my friend and I used vice grips and broke a couple of studs where the springs go around Thats what happens when you are trying to hurry Quote
platinumjason Posted April 23, 2006 Author Report Posted April 23, 2006 Ok thanks for the info, rsheppick. As for the paper, it does have step by step instructions but the thing it dont explain i show to remove the clutch basket and that is what Ive never done before. Quote
platinumjason Posted April 23, 2006 Author Report Posted April 23, 2006 And for the Clymers manual, anywhere online to get one? I tried looking at a few bookstores yesterday but couldnt find anything. Or if someone happens to know if its posted online somewhere? Quote

platinumjason Posted May 9, 2006 Author Report Posted May 9, 2006 Alright, got this thing installed finally, what a project. Just wondering, did any of you reuse the crank case cover gasket?? I didnt even think about it until I tore it apart today so I put some gasket sealent on it and put it back together, gasket was in excellent shape so I dont think I will have any problems but just wondering if anyone else has used the original one with success. Thanks for any input. Quote
msprouse Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 I had to use the stock gasket becouse when I put mine back together I noticed that one little o-ring was leaking atifreeze and when I went back in to replace the o-ring the damn case gasket I got from rocky mountin ripped so I cleaned upthe stock gasket and have not had any problems Oh yeah and I also broke one of the damn sleeves for the springs that's what you get just like he says Quote
rocketboy Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 theres a online maual on everything2stroke .com Quote
ssanddemon Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 I have had the clutch cover off three or four times with the same gasket. The trick is to glue on one side and apply a fine coat of grease to the other. That way it always stays on the cover and never sticks to the cases causing a tear when the cover is removed. Also, apply some silicone grease to the coolant tube o-ring.- Keeps it fresh and slides right on. Quote
