Bansheekidd97 Posted April 15, 2006 Report Posted April 15, 2006 well, me and my brother went out riding at a sand pit yesterday and his machine a bone stock 89 shee started running like shit we started heading back to the truck then it just started pouring white smoke out the right side and it smells like burning alluminum. was going to start tearing it apart sometime this weekend was just wondering what went wrong. thanks Quote
itsaripper Posted April 15, 2006 Report Posted April 15, 2006 Whenever a Banshee starts smoking heavy out of the right cylinder. The crank seal is bad. The trans oil will get sucked into the cylinder and burns. Also could be a hole in the top of the piston. So the fuel no longer burns but just goes right through. Or even could be a leaking head gasket. Not as likely but could be. The seal is the most likely. You will have to split the case to replace. Do both sides ofcourse, and rebuild the topend at the same time. Quote
Bansheekidd97 Posted April 15, 2006 Author Report Posted April 15, 2006 i knew it was gonna be bad, but atleast i can learn on his so when the time comes to split mine ill know how to do it thanks for the reply Quote
chevdodge Posted April 17, 2006 Report Posted April 17, 2006 white smoke I would assume a bad head gasket (coolant leaking in to your cylinders) simple check is to just pull your head and look it over. you will notice on the head burn coloration where/if its leaking in. chevdodge Quote
