CadillacBanshee Posted April 14, 2006 Report Posted April 14, 2006 Between last time you rode it and now, what have you done to it? Quote

cheezehead69 Posted April 14, 2006 Author Report Posted April 14, 2006 do you guys think it could be the coil Quote
dirtplay1975 Posted April 14, 2006 Report Posted April 14, 2006 if you didnt do any mods immediately before this problem happened, I would try a new set of spark plug boots, if the resistor inside goes bad itll cause a misfire under load. Also it could be a coil but go for the cheap parts first and try the boots Quote
Wallrat Posted April 14, 2006 Report Posted April 14, 2006 (edited) There's kinda a process when ur trying to diagnose engine problems. Personally I like to start with the easy (and free) shit first. Start it up and hold your hand near the exhaust outlet. The one that doesn't have anything coming out is the one you need to focus on. First off switch plug wires to opposite cylinders to see if it changes sides. Have you done a compression check? Edited April 14, 2006 by Wallrat Quote
cheezehead69 Posted April 14, 2006 Author Report Posted April 14, 2006 i have not done a coprestion test yet. both cylanders are fireing at an idle because there is exaust coming out both sides. i will start by trying the spark boots and wires first. then the coil. what should my comprestion be. and when i check the reeds what should i be looking for. thanks Quote
Wallrat Posted April 14, 2006 Report Posted April 14, 2006 Before buying anything its a good idea to rule out as much as you can. No sense in replacing the plug wires if they're not the problem. Compression will depend on your elevation. Quote
cheezehead69 Posted April 14, 2006 Author Report Posted April 14, 2006 i think i might just start trying parts off of my buddies sheeand hopfully i can find the problem. Quote
cheezehead69 Posted April 19, 2006 Author Report Posted April 19, 2006 so i fixed the problem it was a loose wire on the coil. it was touching just enough to run fine at an idle but when you opened her up it would not make a good contact. thanks for the help guys Quote
