wont shift...stuck in 3rd and 4th

I just searched a shit load...so dont tell me to search...lol.

 

I had this problem awhile ago....cant remember what I did to fix it other than taking it apart and putting it back together. I think it was the shifting adjuster thingy. Anyway, Last time this happened I was MX racing....This time I was XC racing. So...I think its when it heats up real good. I ride the piss outta this thing. Dunes, Desert, Trail, HOT, COLD, 0ft-7000ft. For hours on end. but this is the second time its happened...and both times while RACING.

 

tell me a worse time for it to happen. anyway....how come this is happening...what can I do to keep it from happening again.

awesome.....found it searching. link below. I remember now. It was the spring on the shift shaft that busted last time. I bought a used shift shaft mech off ebay and just used the spring. I bet it broke again. so i just ordered up a new one from the stealer.
