Big Rig Air Horn or Train Horn

Im on the market for One, Anyone running this setup? Im looking for a place to buy from, I see some on ebay but I dont want to spend 300 bucks and I get the damn horn and it sounds like shit. Any Input would be great

I ran a dixie horn setup on my old truck while in high school. I got it from JC Whitney, they have a bunch to choose from. Don't know anything other than that about them.

i had some $40 air horn from pep boys on my grand cherokee when i had it. it was pretty loud till the mud and water from offroading it ruined it

A dixie horn was the horn on the General Lee from the Dukes of Hazzard. It's a set of air horns that played a certain melody. JC Whitney has semi horns.

A shop I went to as a kid had a train horn there. The thing was HUGE! Took 120psi or some shit like that to run it. I think if you blasted that at some old lady crossing the street you'd knock her out of her shoes.

i had found a website that sells all kinds of air horns, including train horns.

I dont remember it but I left it as soon as I saw a price of somewheres around

300 bucks for the train horn. Gotta have a nice sized air tank and compressor to go

with it. I'll try finding it again.

those train horns are wicked. a guy pulled into our shipping area at work and i was bs'ing with him while he was being loaded and he was showing off his truck. he had a huge air line and a line valve to crack on that thing. i was about 20 ft from the truck when he opened her up and i could feel the vibrations in my feet thru the blacktop, not to mention my ears ringing for the rest of the day. he said he's made people almost wreck from scaring the shit out of them if they get in his way. i don't think they are legal though, you might have to check into that one for your area.

a big truck stop would carry them. dont know what is around your area.

 

a pilot, petro, or a chrome shop would have them.

 

depends on what you put them on, but on most semi the mount another air tank and 1/2 line to feed them they will drain your tanks very fast.

 

if you dont watch what your doing it will pop off your brakes driving down the road.

 

i know a guy that crawled on top of a train that was parked over nite. basically stole them off the top.

ya wouldnt recomend that thats a federal charge there for theft and tresspassing, u have to have more for those horns than just the horn anyways,regulater and major air supply 4 sure, we have a reseviour tank just for those damn horns so we dont piss the air away
