Finkeracer Posted April 3, 2006 Report Posted April 3, 2006 I've just installed a Hotrods long rod 4mm stroker crank to my 05 banshee. I was going to use some 795 wiesco pistons and a spacer plate. The engine builder I use over here in Australia hasn't had anything to do with these spacer plates before and is unsure how reliable they are. He's worried about the gasket sealing in the small area between the two barrells because of how narrow the spacer plate is in that area. Is gasket sealing a problem when using these spacer plates? The plate came for Trinity Racing. The standard barrells have been ported for a stock crank, but he is going to change that to suit the new crank. Is there a better way to set up this motor without using the spacer plate. If so how can it be done and how will it effect port timing? Any help you guys can give me would be very much appreciated. lowriderb Posted April 3, 2006 Report Posted April 3, 2006 your better set up would be to get the 795 pistons, and run the cylinders without a spacer plate, then just have your builder cut the domes in the head to accomodate the stroke, the piston rings will not leave the cylinders with a 4mm. once that is done just have the builder degree the cylinders and port them according to what he or you prefer.. the port timing difference from the stock stroke to the 4mm will change, when i swapped to the 4mm my stock jugs were drag ported and re-used with the new stroke. the exhaust duration went from like a 201-202 to a 198.. the transfers did the same but i dont remember what they were at.. odaen Posted April 3, 2006 Report Posted April 3, 2006 If you or your builder want to know what your durations will be, download this program: http://www.planetsand.com/programs/portmapper.zip If you send me an email or PM, I can email you the updated application (like 200kbytes), and it has some bug fixes in it, as well as a nifty new tool that will help you figure out how to get the desired deck height. Once you install the program, and run it, there's a button that says compare port durations or something like that. On the left side of the screen enter your current setup and port durations. On the right, enter your stroker numbers and play with the deck height to get your transfer durations within reason. Then, figure out how to get that much deck height and raise your exhaust port durations to give you a good blowdown. Good luck Quote
