GLL40 Posted March 26, 2006 Report Posted March 26, 2006 How much can i mill off the head and still run pump gas, premuim is ok. I have an adjustable stator that can be changed to +7 and i work in a machine shop so porting it and miling it are not only free to do but can be easily down so i wanna know what i can do without having to buy bigger carbs and still run pump gas. Thanx 4 the input Quote
theeechozen1 Posted March 26, 2006 Report Posted March 26, 2006 .035 should get her done, keep an eye out for detonation though, you might want to pull the timing back a few degrees just to be safe with pump gas, but it should be ok.... I would suggest an oversized radiator to keep your temps consistant Quote
80overShee Posted March 26, 2006 Report Posted March 26, 2006 What is the equivalent dome to .035"? I want to shave my head to get in the range of a 18-20cc range. My goal is 18cc dome, 4 degrees advance. Whats the proper octane level? I have easy access to Turbo Blue so high octane mixes aren't a problem. 6 gas stations in the area sell it. One of the only advantages to living in "Motor City"...everyone races. I dont want to 'waste' my money on a Cool Head yet. Although it is planned for the future mods. Quote
rocketboy Posted March 26, 2006 Report Posted March 26, 2006 .035=20.8cc and +7 is way to high for you try +4 instead, jus tcause you work i na machine shop doesnt mean yo ucan port your banshee cylinders ,it is a complicated process and alot of research should go into it before yo uthink of grinding a thing Quote
theeechozen1 Posted March 26, 2006 Report Posted March 26, 2006 .035 should be around 20cc I think but don't take off too much more than that, dont get a coolhead IMO they suck..pain in the ass with all the o rings. Just mill the stocker, spray your head gasket with copper coat before you slap it back together and you'll be fine. Most of my friends run this set up on thier drag ported motors w/stock radiator and no problems. With +4 timing 91-93 should be perfect. with +7 I would run at least 100 AV-Gas.(only $3-3.50 a gallon). Again I think an oversized radiator is a GREAT investment, It will keep things consistant while your bashing through the desert for hours on end, while the guys at the hill are heating up and losing some power your bike will always stay fresh. mybanshees2fast4u Posted March 26, 2006 Report Posted March 26, 2006 were can i go or what books can i buy to give me some info on porting Quote
fastbanshee4u Posted March 26, 2006 Report Posted March 26, 2006 http://www.racelogic.com/newbanshee.shtml Heres a web site for you.You need to be very careful or you will slip and hit the cyliders.Port it before you bore it. YOU will need a air grinder, long 3/8 carbide bur, sanding drums, dremel flex shaft and bits.Make sure you chamfer the port edges,so the rings dont catch. Quote
