i am putting in a stock clutch and I have some rubber riings that look like they go around the plates or something. Where do they go and should I have one for each plate or what.

i agree ,throw those in the trash, you don't need them.i had one of them get caught between the plates once and caused my clutch to slip like it was wore out.i took them out and threw them away.clutch worked fine after that.

So whats the reason for them being in there then? Yamaha must of put them in there because they thought they were needed?

throw them away and put a good thick 80 or 90 wt gear oil in!

80 or 90 wt gear oil whoollyy mollley. How bout atf or hydraulic oil , or even brake fluid and power steering fluid mixed with castor oil. Seriously though what would be the reason for heavy wt gear oil. I think that with the clutch in there I would be more inclined to use something like atf if I were to switch from 10-w30.
