warwgn Posted March 17, 2006 Report Posted March 17, 2006 anybody else ever shear off the bolts holding on the sprocket??? I started taking off the swingarm to replace with a +1.5" and when I took off the wheels the holes were egg shaped instead of round. And thats also when I noticed that 3 of the 6 bolts holding the sprocket on had sheared off!! Guess I just got too much power Quote
JET 99 Posted March 17, 2006 Report Posted March 17, 2006 havent seen anyone reply yet! so here is the deal: Your axle locknuts are they loose? when was the last time you checked or replaced the bearings and seals on your carrier? Is your axle rocking side to side when up off ground? loose nuts or bad bearings and or wore out faces where bearings ride on axle. that pretty much covers it! Jim Quote

If you where taking care of your bike like a good owner should, you would have caught that along time ago. Look it over after you ride every time. She will reward you for a long time. Quote

warwgn Posted March 20, 2006 Author Report Posted March 20, 2006 everything is tight, or was tight, the bearings and axel are fine for stock. This all happened the last time I rode( except the egg shaping of the wheels I'm sure that took some time, but I rarely take the wheels off). I tried to take the last 3 lug nout out and they all snapped as well, I think I will go get some grade 8 bolts for the next assembly. My quad is a torque monster, and I ride it like I stole it from somebody else who stole it. I use it for desert racing, so I do check it over before and after each race, and before every time I practice ride. Last time out everything looked fine, but I over rode the stock suspension one to many times and wound up with a compressed disc in my lower back so it has been sitting for 3 months untill now and this is the first time I have messed with it since then. But everthing is getting upgraded now, as a desert racer I went backwards, I built the motor first and now I am getting to the suspension. Quote
