beeznuts00banshee Posted February 21, 2006 Report Posted February 21, 2006 Well as the title says my 2000 banshee is firing on the left cylinder only after i get it stared( which i might add take forever to sart). But after about a minn. of that it will fire on both cylinders. Thinking it might be electrical i replace the cdi,and ignition box, a couple months ago to get a stator. But after its starts and runs for a bit and when I go to take off and put it in gear it like to rev up high on its own so any one have any ideas let me know. I don't know much about this stuff but know enough to fix whatever the problem might be so just take it esay on me if its somethign simple thanks guys. Quote
adrenilinjunki Posted February 21, 2006 Report Posted February 21, 2006 seems like a lot of people having this problem latley. as far as hard to start check your compression it may be time for a new top end. you can get a compression tester at most parts stores. if that checks out does it have spark on both cylinders befor it starts or after it stars. what do the plugs look like? swap the plug wires and see if you still have the problem if it moves to the left cylinder yo may need a new coil. might be in your carbs as well but i dont know much about that if you read some of the post on here youll find people with simular problems and a bunch off good stuff too look at. and if you have tors on your carbs still get rid of them the had me chasing ghost in my electrical system for ever. hope some of this helps good luck Quote
beeznuts00banshee Posted February 21, 2006 Author Report Posted February 21, 2006 Before the start both plugs have good spark the onything I can think of would be in the carbs maybe. But I don't know compression is good checked that awhile ago and was good so onything that I can think of could be in my carbs. Quote
Shee-Male Posted February 22, 2006 Report Posted February 22, 2006 make sure you don't have the slides in backwards, happened to me. Quote
BigRed350x Posted February 22, 2006 Report Posted February 22, 2006 Like they said above, just check your compression, then try switching everything from side to side (reeds, intake boots, plug wires, etc) if the problem stays on that one side, it is more than likely a carb or top end issue. If it changes from one side to the other, just start checking all your stuff. My 87 did stuff like this all the time, and it turned out one cylinder was warped after it got really hot one time, I would always have problems on that one side. Check your compresson first of all, then try and clean your carbs real good and make sure your slides are right, no bent needles, etc. Let us know what you find. Could be a bad head gasket too I suppose. Quote

And find out later what was wrong with it. So thanks guys for all the help and advice im sure there will be more to come after i get it back peace Quote
