Im tired of changing jets and messing with the needle. I'm looking to you guys to let me know where i should start and go from there. Mains, Pilots, and needle pos.

PROBLEM:

My bike will only idle if i turn my idle screws all the way in and at mid throttle the bike boggs pretty bad. Absolutly no low end and the bike has to be in at high rpms to go anywhere. Right now i got a 390 jet, and the needle is at the third pos from the bottom. I'm at sea level.

MODS:

Full Drag port

t5's

stock carbs

tors removed

vito's dual stage reeds

boost bottle

noss head with 21cc domes

k&n's

reed spacers

+4 timing

a drag ported engine isn't going to have low end.if your idle screws were not installed properly, they will have little adjustment. Is your bog feel flat or is it stumbling? if it feels flat, I would suggest a bigger pilot, and adjust your air screws. and lower your clip.

you need some bigger carbs if you have a drag port.

but if you want to use the stockers. you need to go up on the pilot at least 27.5 maybe more. and raise the needle 5th clip.

390 main is big your probably need a different needle more thinner and shorter for more fuel. thats why your running that big of main.

i woudl get some 30 + carbs imo if you want the full performance.

Yeap, Bigger carbs!!! Your starving the shit out of that motor, who did the drag port for you? What size carbs did they recomend for you?

Its a stumbling bogg, like it wants to but just can't.  Im gonna try the needle setting on the 5th, if that don't work im gonna change the needle and the pilot. Any recommendations?

A stumbling bogg, like its spitting and sputtering??? That means its too rich...If it just hesitates before powerband, then its lean.....From what your saying w/ the air screw, I'd go up at least one size on the pilot and go from there...It should idle. Does it start hard? Cold? Warm? A lean pilot will require the choke all the time. A rich pilot will start in cold weather w/o the choke and idle great when the motor is cold, but won't idle once the motor is warmed up...I'd start there...
