Spitfire Posted February 16, 2006 Report Posted February 16, 2006 I may be buying a Blaster motor, that's in great condition for $100 bucks. All it needs is a cylinder, because he sold that to some other kid. I just want to get the motor real clean, and throw it on ebay and make a couple easy bucks. My friend (BansheeCJ3) had a Blaster cylinder laying around in his shed forever, it came with a Blaster he bought a while ago. I went over to look at it so I can buy it possibly, and it's going to need a couple headstuds and a bore. Then I noticed the ports. I know nothing about port work, so I need to know if this port is acceptable, or done by a 4 year old and his dremel one night. Am I better off just buying a cylinder off eBay or something? Thanks!! Notice how the bridge comes to a point, like a knife blade. Here's the ports on the bottom of the cylinder, these bridge's also come to a point. Quote

99Banshee Posted February 16, 2006 Report Posted February 16, 2006 Looks ok to me.. but its not finished.. ud haft to sand the sides and corners down working your way untill its smooth inside there... It should look like mine, smooth hints the ( polish ) in the words Port & Polish.. Quote
Spitfire Posted February 16, 2006 Author Report Posted February 16, 2006 Well maybe I'll bring it to a local shop and see if he can hook me up with a good deal on a piston kit/bore/finish port. Any more opinions on the port? Thanks for the help thus far, I really appreciate it! Quote
brilei5 Posted February 16, 2006 Report Posted February 16, 2006 ITS NOT PRETTY. But it will probably run just fine, after the bore job. If he is giving you a good deal...... You could clean it up fairly easy. Quote
Spitfire Posted February 16, 2006 Author Report Posted February 16, 2006 Well I guess my best bet is to bring it to somebody so they can look at it personally, right? Hopefully it can clean up, if not, oh well, I'll just buy a cylinder off eBay. Thanks for the help guys! Quote

lowriderb Posted February 16, 2006 Report Posted February 16, 2006 (edited) the intake ports look like the only ones that have been changed much of any, the transfers look like the paint is still in them so they havent been messed with.. how does the exhaust look? and the windows into the cylinder? also check the bore on the cylinder because blaster cylinders with stock sleeves dont like to be bored out to .080 over.. they tend to crack after that.. polishing the ports is unnecessary as well because it doesnt promote good atomization of the fuel.. and when intakes are polished especially you will notice puddling of the fuel/mix along the bottom of the ports leading into the crank case.. the most that should be polished in a 2stroke motor should be the domes and possilby the exhaust.. now a 4stroke is different, other things can be polished and not affect the motor as much, like the valve seats and valves, exhaust ports ect.. heres a 215cc blaster which after this pic was taken the top end was taken off to make it a 305cc blaster and the first of that kind that i know of.. here it is as a 215 vs a predator that was pretty quick.. http://www.cpcustoms.com/videos/blaster_ch...ds/MOV00853.MPG yfz 480 on the gas.. http://www.cpcustoms.com/videos/blaster_ch...ds/MOV00842.MPG a 350 banshee on race fuel.. http://www.cpcustoms.com/videos/blaster_ch...ds/MOV00831.MPG there are more vids coming but will be held up till there is a lockup built for the 305, it doesnt keep clutches good.. i dont think its a good threat when someone say's their bringing out a blaster either..lol oh yeah it weighs in at a whopping 145lbs wet too..
