corona banshee Posted February 14, 2006 Report Posted February 14, 2006 hi i am new to this forum thank god i found it i just coped a 99 shee last month from a freind of mine i did a compression test on this past week and it read 120psi on one side and about 118psi on the other this quad has never seen a new top end before i did the test with the engine in normal operating temp my question is do you think i have enough compression on it still to throw on my t5s and what jetting should i use i live in new york city i believe that i am at sea level or maybe a little above any help i will appreciate very much Quote
bigboybanshee Posted February 14, 2006 Report Posted February 14, 2006 If you're running the stock head @ or around sea level, then 120 is right where you need to be. The only time compression becomes an issue is when either both cylinders are around 100 psi or lower, or if you have 10 psi or more difference between the two (i.e. one is at 120, the other is at 105; then you would have a problem). So, with that being said....slap them T5's on there and take ellison's advice! Welcome to the forums! Quote
corona banshee Posted February 14, 2006 Author Report Posted February 14, 2006 thanks very much for the replies Quote
strokersquid Posted February 15, 2006 Report Posted February 15, 2006 is the banshee compression #s the same as an rz engine ? i have an rz which reads under 100 psi and it runs fine and on their website they said leave it alone Quote
dajogejr Posted February 15, 2006 Report Posted February 15, 2006 If you have the stock airbox...280s will be fine for warm weather, might want to jump to 290s or 300s to be safe, especially how cold it is over there now. However, if you removed your airbox and have clampons, you'll end up with 320 to 340 on the mains....figure 340 to 360 for winter jetting.... Since Manhattan just got hit with 2 feet of snow, you might want to get a snowmobile for the time being... Quote
corona banshee Posted February 15, 2006 Author Report Posted February 15, 2006 tell me about it it sucks riding in the snow i put some mudlites on an the bike was all over the street and my hands were freezing i wont do that again Quote
