ZillaRider02 Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 I just finished up with a top-end in a friend's Shee. It still has all of the TORS crap on it right now. With the choke and gas on you can't get it to start (It is getting good spark though). If you open the slides on the carbs and squirt gas into the cylinders, it will run until that fuel is gone. The bike has reed spacers that are in question. The reed cages sit right on the cylinder with the spacers between the cages and the intake boots. Something about that looks fishy to me. I have the choke tube in between the carbs and the slides are in correctly. Is this something as easy as reeds or the spacers, or is it a TORS issue? I'm about to pull the carbs back and take the spacers out, hoping that they are preventing the carbs from seeing a vacuum. Anybody else got any ideas...... Quote
sheefreak Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 The reed spacers are usually run in front of the reeds. Check the vent tube to the gas tank, if it is clogged, you may not get fuel. Also, make sure that your carb bowls are on the correct carb. If you switch them, the choke won't work correctly. And make sure your pilots are clean. Take them out and run air and carb cleaner through it. May also want to close your airscrews down a bit to richen up the pilot for the cold, will also help it start. Few things to check. You can also unplug the TORS box under the gastank to see if that is causing problems. Quote
Wallrat Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 Reed spacers can be run on either side of the reeds, although for their intended purpose of picking up the top, they'd need to be between cyls and reeds. I ran mine inbetween reeds/carbs just cuz I needed to to clear the clutch lever w/ my carb bowl. Quote
odaen Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 I'd pull the hoses to the carbs and turn the gas on, and see if any comes out the hoses. If gas comes out, the problem is in the carbs. If no gas comes out, might wanna pull the petcock and see if the screen is clogged and not allowing fuel to pass through. Quote
