fast500#12 Posted February 5, 2006 Report Posted February 5, 2006 ok so i go out to sand mountain and pay 40 bucks . take off up the hill and my shifting just doesnt feel right and i can get past 3rd at all after several tries. i head down to the bottom of the hill and stop ( one run up the hill for 40 bucks ). down shift to 1st and notice that the shift lever falls all the way down and dosen't pop back to zero like it should and its imposible to find neutral. so i limp back to the truck and shut it down. while playing with the shifter and rocking the bike back and forth i get it in neutral and the shifter fall back down to the bottom. every time you pull up on the shifter it sounds like it grabs a gear and every time you push down on it it does the same same thing? any ideas? i'm thinkin shift shaft maybe a spring. shift star is modded. shifter will not stay up. 2twin350s Posted February 5, 2006 Report Posted February 5, 2006 sounds like the detent spring for the shift star is broken or loose.or the shift star itself worked loose from the shift drum.better pull the clucth cover and look. Quote
NugShee Posted February 5, 2006 Report Posted February 5, 2006 it has nothing to do with the shift star. You can remove the shift star all together and the shifter should still remain in the right spot. Whatever it is it doesnt sound like its inside your tranny. Just take off your clutch cover and have a look. Dont start it again though because if something inside is broke, you dont want it getting knocked around or stuck between two gears. Let us know what you find out. Quote
Bansheeduner02 Posted February 5, 2006 Report Posted February 5, 2006 sounds like your shift spring! Quote
