CadillacBanshee Posted February 4, 2006 Report Posted February 4, 2006 i've had the tors elim kit installed for about a month now and i'm bearly noticing that the idle screws don't change the idle when turned. I had my friend drill and tap them, he also adjusted the bike after all the recent mods. I read something about shaving that part that you thread so the idle screws go in far enough to work. I don't know if they have been shaved, so can anyone tell me how long that peice of the carb is supposed to be? Quote
suzuki0702 Posted February 4, 2006 Report Posted February 4, 2006 u have to adjust your idle either at the thumb throttle or at the carb tops...the slides have a groove in them and the groove sits on top of hte idle screw...just not adjustable Quote
bansheeman1974 Posted February 4, 2006 Report Posted February 4, 2006 (edited) also the way you know it has been shaved,is if it is flat the stock is angled out side ways where you put the new idle screw so it needs to me filed down so the screw fit flush hope this helps. 1000dollabill Posted February 7, 2006 Report Posted February 7, 2006 i put the kit on my buddys bike and a twist throttle. the cable was actually the exact length so the idle screws didn't do a whole lot. you should shave off enough that the points are completely visible and the lock nut has a flat surface to mate with. You need a very slight (about 1/8") amount of slack at both the thumb throttle and carb adjuster ends. You do not, want the cable to be tight and adjust the idle speed by changing the position of the thumb throttle end of the cable. My guess is that you need to machine or file (I filed and made it great as long as you take your time and do it right) the boss shorter. Toomey says the boss should be approx 20mm (~.75") from the outside of the slide bore to the surface that the locknut should seat against. I noticed that I had the screws nearly bottomed out and wasn't getting the idle speed I needed. So I filed mine very near to the point where the tapping is present on the inside of the screw boss. This gave me the adjustment I needed. Whatever you do, do not have your throttle cable tight; you need some play at each end. Quote
