i jsut bought a trinity 420 stroker motor from a guy in deleware. i recieved the engine and have torn the head off of it. the right cylinder has pitting real bad on the piston and the dome. what could have caused this. secondly he said it only had 15 hrs on the engine, but if that was the case wouldnt i be able to see the honing marks still.

i also found coolant in both cylinders...wich could have came from shippping as i do not believe the engine was completely drained because the bubble wrap was soaked and the engine was really wet. im wanting to know what to look for tomarrow night as far as markings on the rod and piston to make sure i got a trinity stroker.the compression seems to be really high, but i can see some wear on the lower cylinder walls.

so basically i need to know what all is involved with a 420 kit from trinity? part numbers and any info you guys can get me.

this engine is to replace the one i purchased on bansheehq 8 months ago and never recieved...lost 1200 on that one. anyhow i dont want to run this engine till its in tip top shape cuz i cant afford to lose more money.

i paid 1385 for the engine with the 420 kit, trinity head (20 cc domes), 35mm pwk flat slide setup with intakes from trinity, including the throttl cable and twist throttle. he threw in the factory reed cages with boysen reeds.

thanks agian guys

The Trinity 420 is not a stroker, it is a big bore. They put oversized sleeves in stock cyl's and use bigger pistons for a little extra cc. Check the bore size, the 420 is 69mm on the frist size and can go up to 71mm for oversizes. It uses a stock crank or a stock stroke long rod crank. As far as I know you have to get the pistons from Trinity. They had them made specially for them. There should be a number in the top of the piston, unless it is beat up too much to tell. If you can find the number on it just give that to Trinity... if not you will need to find out if it's got stock rods or long rods to get the correct pistons. Other than that just do a normal top end rebuild, as long as you don't find anything else wrong with it.

the cylinder and head being pitted up could have let a rod bearing loose or the needle bearings on the wrist pins.. for low hour motor i doubt that the bearings let loose.. but it deserves the look.. or possibly an air leak..

went through the same thing last summer

u can tell if it is a trinity motor first by the markings on the cylinder

they sign them on the out side and when u take the head off if its the factory head them on the under sside it should say what numbers it is and it should have hot rods in it

also did this have a copper head gasket??

and the out side crank bearings let got on my ours and did the same thing to the piston and when i called trin ity they said that the crank used in those engines is a hot rods crank and they have seen alout of lower end bearings go bad. and as for the cylinder marks ours had about the same amount of run time on it and u couldnt see any marks on the bore as in cross hatched marks if u need any more info lemme know or call trinity they had the best customer serivce i have seen in a long time

A member of Bansheehq took $1200 of your hard earned money and stiffed you on the motor? Oh, do tell, who might that be, because thats just plain wrong. They need to be banned from the Hq. Ya never cheat your family.................

the user was bogart. i did say something...and little was done....like banning him. minkia lives in his area and has dealt with the guy b4 and was going to loook into it as i was goin to pay him to do so, but it fell through. another user went by his house, but the guy wasnt there.

Brandon Knox was the guys real name. he lives in the detroit area, hazel park. id still like to have the engine or his entire rz banshee for the troubles. he needs to be hung in my opinion. the police there couldnt help cuz its an out of state matter. and the police here wont help for the same reason. now i gotta try and sue him.....prolly a waste of time and money. he's just a fricken looser.

anyhow, what i found out tonight about this new engine is that there has been some clearancing on the cases for the long rod. also i see some fair porting on the transfer ports.but when cleaning things up i found carb cleaner puddled in the coolant holes? i swear it was carb cleaner in the coolant holes in the cases. also the crank is blued on one the good side that shows no pitting.

the trinity head does have a copper gasket in which made no sense to me, with the cool head being o-ring and all. i did find a small piece of metal...the size of a puppy's toenail...inside of the cases on the piston with no pitting, same side i found the crank blued. hrm. guess i cant win. going to take the engine to kipp at dune trash racing and see what he says.

the copper gasket is a trinity thing and has to be kneld when you get a new one and have to use permatex moto seal1 its gray and is not like hondabond it is very thin and i still bet u got a lower end bearing cage that came apart
