Bigvincent Posted January 24, 2006 Report Posted January 24, 2006 Where to start...I was running the shee on Sunday and everything was great. Had a guy come up to me and wanted to race, so we raced and I smoked him the first run. Raced back and when I shifted to third she began to sputter I gave it a little more throttle and no response so I pulled the clutch in and killed the engine. Waited a second and went to kick and that sucker wouldn't budge. I haven't even had a chance to pull it apart but any ideas as to what may have happened or what is wrong. TIA Quote
RIPPEN Posted January 24, 2006 Report Posted January 24, 2006 My buddies bike did almost the same exact thing and it turned out to be a piston that came apart --She make any noises up to the seize??? RIPPEN Quote
crazywheelerman365 Posted January 24, 2006 Report Posted January 24, 2006 Doesn't sound to promising !! I went threw that last summer and blew the skirt off the bottom of the piston! You could actually bang on the pipe and here chunks in bottom... Quote
Bigvincent Posted January 24, 2006 Author Report Posted January 24, 2006 hmmm...now that you mention it, it didn't make a single noise before it happened. No indication what so ever. Quote
crazywheelerman365 Posted January 24, 2006 Report Posted January 24, 2006 Mine didn't make much noise , as so much as it just fell on its face.... Quote

Rode the bitch all the way back to camp. Had very little bottom but came back on at the top. Quote
MILO Posted January 24, 2006 Report Posted January 24, 2006 not on a shee, but my kx, same as some others the piston skirt shattered and locked her up tight. no warning, just bogged out then CLUNK!! Quote
crazywheelerman365 Posted January 24, 2006 Report Posted January 24, 2006 Damn ! you had better luck than I did! I was at the bottom of a mountain all way in the valley ! I had to be towed out buy a kingquad and that sucked ! Quote
Bigvincent Posted January 24, 2006 Author Report Posted January 24, 2006 I just got back in from the beggining of the tear down. Got the plugs out and they looked perfect. Put it on the jack and slid the trans into sixth and tried turning the wheels. They would go about an 1/8 around then jam. Just with a finger compression test it feels that its the left (if sitting on the shee) cylinder. What would cause the piston skirt to blow? What should be my next step in the tear down? Should I drain all the fluids then pull the head? Thanks Quote

crazywheelerman365 Posted January 24, 2006 Report Posted January 24, 2006 The skirt is a good sign that the Rings needed to be replaced , drain all the coolent and start yankin ! You can also yank the pipes off and look up into the cylinders ! good view of the skirts!! Quote
