Hangit62 Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 On my 2001 shee there is a black vent hose that runs from the top of the right side to the back of the crank case and another line coming from the same area, running straight up towards the gas tank, when i run wide open for a period of time it starts pucking oil out out of the vent line, why, i put one quart of oil in it is that too much? If i trail ride or cruise aroun d its fine, but when i ride it hard it puks oil. i'm tired of cleaning oil of the bike and i want it fixed PLEASE HELP. Any input will help thanks. Danny Quote
MILO Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 (edited) sounds like too much oil in the tranny did you check the dipstick?? Edited January 11, 2006 by MILO Quote
2003LimitedBanshee Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 Shouldn't be... the tranny oil capacity is more than 1 quart (1.8 US quarts to be exact). Quote
Hangit62 Posted January 11, 2006 Author Report Posted January 11, 2006 Yes there seemed to be plenty of oil with one quart! Quote
MILO Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 Yes there seemed to be plenty of oil with one quart! 457847 by 'plenty' i'm assuming you mean within the fill range, and not overfull. maybe you didn't let it all drain out, if you only needed to add a quart to fill it up again. don't know why else it would be puking out oil. maybe someone else will chime in with another possible explanation. 2003LimitedBanshee Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 Yes there seemed to be plenty of oil with one quart! 457847 I know this is slightly off topic, but sense it is being discussed. This is going to sound stupid, and is not meant to be insulting but, are you warming the bike up before draining the tranny oil. I've never only put just one quart in, but I can't imagine it would even make it to the acceptable range on the dipstick. Quote
Stinger Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 Sounds to me like he didn't drain it and then put in a quart...he just put in a quart to "top it off". Now it's WAY overfull and he hasn't figured out how to check it with the dipstick yet. Quote
Hangit62 Posted January 14, 2006 Author Report Posted January 14, 2006 I am not retarted i did all of the above and the bike had enough tranny oil in it with 1 quart. My Yamaha dealer even told me that it only took 1 quart. Quote
Shee-Male Posted January 14, 2006 Report Posted January 14, 2006 The Yamaha dealer!...well then, it's gospel!, run the one quart then. My Yamaha dealer told me to run 10w engine oil in my tranny! The case is probably low, all you'll need is a can of compression and that should stop that pesky leak! The compression is available at you dealer. Good luck! Quote
FIRST BANSHEE Posted January 15, 2006 Report Posted January 15, 2006 I am not retarted i did all of the above and the bike had enough tranny oil in it with 1 quart. My Yamaha dealer even told me that it only took 1 quart. 459157 What did the yamaha dealer tell you to do to fix the problem???did you have this problem before you added 1 qt of oil??? I would drain the oil again and put in 1.5 qts, maybe someone put the wrong dipstick on your banshee. Quote
2twin350s Posted January 15, 2006 Report Posted January 15, 2006 i only had that problem one time.i over filled the tranny.maybe your oil is too thick or thin.10w30 is all you need.another thing that i can think of,is if you are runnin the right oil and level, the right side crank seal may be starting to go bad.this could allow crank pressure to build up in the trans and push the oil out the vent.i know they usually suck oil into the cylinder when the seal goes bad,but could also go bad this way too.i would runn her hard then park it and right away pull the dipstick and see if you can feel or here pressure escape when you pull the stick.also, just try runnin a sepreate vent line off the trans and see if the problem quits. duner Posted January 15, 2006 Report Posted January 15, 2006 Exactually what happened to me,seal on crank(clutch side) went bad, causing pressure to build in crankcase. To check this out, ride around till the engine warms up,then pull the dipstick. There should be no pressure when you pull the dipstick. Quote
