Shee-Male Posted January 9, 2006 Report Posted January 9, 2006 Anyone know if the same mods done on the banshee apply to the RZ? like milling the head, advancing the timing, etc? Quote
strokersquid Posted January 9, 2006 Report Posted January 9, 2006 milling the head works. ive done it .030" but others do less. i run on 87 octane no problems Quote
gipperz Posted January 9, 2006 Report Posted January 9, 2006 I was going to build an rz motor for my banshee and while doing some research on it the only difference is really the power valves. Tha stator and flywheel are different but you could still mod the timing plate for advancement. Hope this help, good luck. Quote
Yaxy Posted January 9, 2006 Report Posted January 9, 2006 (edited) Milling the head works. After milled do a squish test. Had my RZ head cut .030 and still had almost .050 worth of clearance. Had to take head off last week and send it back to get it re-milled. For porting, the intakes on my RZ non ported and ported are similiar. Depending on what kind of power spread you are looking for determines how much or if at all the exhaust port is opened. From what I have read Rz stock v shee stock the exhuast port on the RZ is 3mm higher. As far as timing goes I recall that you had to modify the existing stator on I think the 1984 model. For the 1985 models you could go aftermarket stator. I think??????, Don't hold me to that. For more info on the RZ do a search under my name. I asked this question and many others related to the RZ that may be able to help you. All questions were in 2005. Chris Edited January 9, 2006 by Chris Yax Quote
rzcolobanshee Posted January 9, 2006 Report Posted January 9, 2006 Yup you're right on the stator, the 84 has a different bolt pattern, 85 is the same as a banshee. In stock form the rz's exhaust port is allready huge, right around 200 degrees which is what most drag ports are brought up to, it could be widened though, and the transfers could be opened up quite a bit. You can get aftermarket heads for the rz from duncan or prodesign...I've got my stocker milled .060 with the squish recut Quote
Shee-Male Posted January 9, 2006 Author Report Posted January 9, 2006 how do you recut the squish, I've heard this alot, but don't fully understand why? Quote
