bansheefreestyler Posted January 2, 2006 Report Posted January 2, 2006 hey guys. As some of you know my banshee is kinda pooched. the engine has to be tooken out and the cases have to be split. The impeller is gone, couple gears, a bolt broke and went inside the cases so we dont know whats all wrong in there, and my clutch wasnt in properly so thats pooched too I think. What do you guys think I should do because I want to get this thing running again. Buy all the parts I need off Ebay or buy a whole banshee engine? do any of you guys have some of the parts im looking for? or an engine for cheap? Any parts for cheap or suggestions will be great. Thanks BFS Quote
BigRed350x Posted January 2, 2006 Report Posted January 2, 2006 You could donate it to me? I would just get the whole engine off ebay. If you can get the parts you need from ebay for a reasonable price, do that. I would look for the whole thing though, so I would have some spare parts for the future. Quote
bansheefreestyler Posted January 2, 2006 Author Report Posted January 2, 2006 ok i can get all the gears and crap for like 100 bucks US but a complete engine is like 600 plus. Quote
iceman Posted January 2, 2006 Report Posted January 2, 2006 do what you think is best. id go with an engine though. I think buying a 600 dollar engine would be easier for you than finding all the pieces and fixing it. just my opinion. Quote
bansheefreestyler Posted January 2, 2006 Author Report Posted January 2, 2006 i dont know what is best thats why i posted it up on here. Ill see what my dad has to say about the complete engine deal because he will be riding the banshee too so hell be paying half. If I do buy the complete engine should i buy stock or go big while im in there? Quote
Gargamel Posted January 2, 2006 Report Posted January 2, 2006 I would say split it first before making any choice. See what you have wrong 100% before you jump into a whole motor. It might be cheaper to repair but you won't know till you split it. If it ends up that you would be better off with a whole new one then you can keep the good parts from the old for spares and no harm no foul Quote
iceman Posted January 2, 2006 Report Posted January 2, 2006 i didnt realise it hadnt been split yet. do what gargamel said first. check inside of it to make sure you know whats wrong in there. Quote
bansheefreestyler Posted January 2, 2006 Author Report Posted January 2, 2006 well there is damage internally because a bolt broke and went inside and we can see the gears chewed up kind of and such. spliting the cases to see what is wrong isnt available for me because i dont have the building to do it in and my mechanic wont do it because he does his work in his garage and has to work on other vehicles. rocketboy Posted January 2, 2006 Report Posted January 2, 2006 (edited) you can split it i n your basement or utility room or some shit i bet . gears are cheap ,hell the whole thing is pretty cheap really . if the crank and cases are good ,id look for a decent usuable set of jugs for 150$ clutch maybe 80$ gears and stuff maybe 100$ .then theyll be gaskets/seals and various oither shit ,but i bet it can be done for less than 500$. if cases and/or crank is toast ialso d start to look at another engine ,$600 for a running she motor is pretty cheap, id think $800 would be alot closer to reality . Wallrat Posted January 2, 2006 Report Posted January 2, 2006 I split mine on a small folding table that I setup in the corner of my garage. Kept a plastic box underneath to put all the parts in as I removed them and put em into ziplocs. You can have it out of the frame and split in half a day easy. Quote
bansheefreestyler Posted January 2, 2006 Author Report Posted January 2, 2006 what about electrical and all that. i have no clue about electrical stuff and dont know what to do about that. Quote
bansheeryder_69 Posted January 2, 2006 Report Posted January 2, 2006 buy a clymer repair manual off of ebay. They're only like $20 and help a TON. But split the cases for sure and see whats wrong Quote

The clymers manual can walk you through doing all this...you can know nothing about the engine and take it apart and put it back together using the clymers manual. Quote
bansheefreestyler Posted January 2, 2006 Author Report Posted January 2, 2006 i have a clymers but i dont feel confident doing a complete tear down of my engine because I will end up screwing it up Quote
