I had to put some heat on the motor from my topedo heater and then it finally started up. Yesterday I tried to start it again because I wanted to go riding indoors and it is being a bear to start. I don't think it is the compression, I don't think it is the rings does anyone also have problems getting there shee started sometimes In the summer the shee would fire up in three kicks Should I run a different plug like a BR9ES? later dudes and ladies Quote

sheefreak Posted December 30, 2005 Report Posted December 30, 2005 Make sure the choke tube between the carbs is in place and if that doesn't help then try turning your air screw in a full turn. If it is still difficult to start then put in 2 sizes bigger pilot jet for winter and this will cure your starting problems.The problem you are having is when it is too cold the engine cannot get enough fuel to start the engine. So if pulling the choke out does not do the job then you have to find a way to get more fuel into the motor for cold startup. I run a 68 pilot jet in My 35 A/S PWK carbs and my bike has been sitting for a couple of months and it started the 3rd kick no problems. Temp outside was in the low 30's. 453388[/snapback] Right on! If you have had your carbs apart, will want to check and see if float bowls are on correct carb. They are numbered 1 and 2 inside the float bowl. 1 goes on the choke side carb. If these are swapped around the choke won't work propperly. Quote

raymo1979 Posted January 1, 2006 Report Posted January 1, 2006 I have the same problem but I have the trinity cv kit 35mm.When it is cold the motor runs lean and it is not getting fuel and check your plugs when you are running in the cold might have to rejet. Quote

Also what is the compression suppose to be for stock bore with 22cc cool head domes. 454031[/snapback] He is running completely different carbs, pilots don't go that high in the stock Mikuni's which I'm sure is what your running based on the pilot and main sizes you quoted. I don't know that I would recommend jumping 2 pilot sizes all at once. You wont hurt anything, by doing this, but you probably only need to go one pilot size, and you won't possibly sacrifice throttle response. Quote

If you put a 68 pilot in a mikuni it wouldn't run. Quote
