I just got my new pipes today, they are fmf fatty's with turbine core 2 silencers. They look just like new and I got em' off ebay for about 280. :headbang: I know I will have to rejet, so where should I get my jets at? I know I have to change my main jet but what size should I step up to? I'm around 600 ft. above sea level or so and this is the only mod I plan on running for now. Are there any other things I should have to change? Thanks alot

I assume you aren't doing any airbox modifications or removal at this point, as you didn't mention it?? If not, it seems like the FMF's generally end up in the 280 range, with pipes/silencers being the only mod. I haven't jetted a set personally, but that seems to be where the other threads have ended up around. Keep in mind other mods, temperature and fuel/oil mix ratio will all have an impact on you main jetting. You probably shouldn't need to make any pilot jet adjustments, but you may need to make a needle adjustment after changing the mains, quite possibly one clip position (two at the most) richer. Again all just ballpark estimates, but a WOT plug check should confirm.

For 50 degree temps, I'd start off w/ a 290 main w/ no air box lid or modify it..w/ the stock lid then you'll be around a 260 main..

You can get jets from MagicRacing or DennisKirk.

I'd strongly suggest that you get rid of the piece of crap stock air filter

assembly if you still have it and get an aftermarket clamp on with the flange adapter.

I was thinking about getting a air filter kit for it since I am redoing the jetting. What do you reccommend? I was thinking about the pro flow kit that has a new mounting system . It is 90 dollars at Magic Racing. Or should I just get a new air filter and that will be fine? I would like to stick with a foam air filter since I have heard K&N let alot of crap pass through.

Get the whole kit, the stock flange is junk and will let sand get by...some say sand gets by the K&N, but I never seen any sand in my intake and I ride everything from muddy trails to Glamis sand dunes.

It will be really close to the switching point for the pilot. I would bet you will probably have to go up a size to a 27.5, and probably a clip position or two richer, in addtition to richening the main by several sizes. As Banchetta mentioned you will probably end up in the 290 or 300 range with the lid off. In order to take the lid off it requires the ProFlow kit, so you would be in this range most likely.

Okay, so what would you reccommend for jetting if my mods were the pro flow air filter kit and fatty's with turbine core silencers. Would I have to change my pilots and my needle clips? or just my main jets? Thanks alot

I've always found the fmf pipes to like the stock pilots better for throttle response, the 27.5 pilots will make your shee start up w/ one kick, but seems a slighty less throttle response...I perfer response over starting in 3 kicks cold...it'll still start in one kick warm...try both and you can decide... ;)

Okay, I ordered the pro flow air kit and a outerwear air box cover so I can remove the lid safely. I also got 290 main jets. What I am hung up on now is what hole I should put the clip in on the needle? I have heard both the 4th and 5th clip but I don't know which is better for me. thanks

Nobody knows where I should put the clip?

I would try the 4th clip first. As mentioned the FMF's don't seem to like quite as rich jetting compared to a few other pipes. Therefore, I'd go with the 4th clip first, but keep in mind every bike is a little different so you may end up going with the 5th, you'll just have to see how it responds.

Like 03le said, try both and decide. Jetting is trial and error. There is no text book on this, you'll see. Moving the needles on fmf shees respond a lot. It'll either like it and pull like hell, like you just put another set of pipes on, or it'll bog out and the powerband won't kick in..most fmf shees will like the 4th clip w/ aftermarket reeds and 5th clip w/ stock reeds......ps, clip position is from the blunt end..

With my SST's and Turbine Cores, when I just had pipes, K&N & airbox lid off I was at 310 on the mains, stock pilot & needle in the 4th clip. Jetting was spot on. However, all bikes respond differently. So your best bet is to throw some jets in (start around 300 on the mains) and do some plug chops. Thats really the best way to determine where you are at.
