banshee223 Posted December 17, 2005 Report Posted December 17, 2005 (edited) I'm wanting to set up my shee for flat track, i've raced at the track in Ada, Oklahoma, the track is a eighth mile , and I love it, i'm not set up for it though, I placed first in the Novice class last weekend, I'm running RAZRS in the rear and the factory fronts, I know I need to get flat track tires but I want to get set up for it first, It seemed like the RAZRS were hooking up alot better than the people running flat track tires, I've built a lowering kit for the rear and I'm building a lowering kit for the front, I've been strapping the front down with tie-downs but i think it will be better just to lower the front so that I have suspension in the front, what does a sway bar actually help do? Need tips , my shee as Toomey T5s boyseen, pro series reeds, and K&N clamp ons, I've also thought about buying some stock YFZ 450 front shocks Edited December 17, 2005 by banshee223 Quote
banshee223 Posted December 17, 2005 Author Report Posted December 17, 2005 I've found some American Racing flat track tires for sell, the are 18-10-10 and the compund of the tires are 23, what do you think about these tires or what do you guys suggest. Quote
ZillaRider02 Posted December 17, 2005 Report Posted December 17, 2005 Where are you from? I'm planning to make the race at Ada on the 14th of Jan. I've got a lowering kit and some rear tires coming as we speak. Everybody I've talked to likes the American Racers for a harder track, but like the Hoosier Tri-Tracs for the looser tracks like Ada. I'm not sure on the YFZ450 shocks up front. I've got Elka's on mine, which lower it some, but it still needs to be lower. Quote
banshee223 Posted December 17, 2005 Author Report Posted December 17, 2005 Coalgate, I think I have seen you on the speedtribesouthernboyz forum, I will be there on the 14, but i will probably run my razrs, it seems like i hook up on the straights better than the other people in my class, what class do you plan on running there, i run the novice, which is the lowest class for the quads, i would run the ameutar but my quad is not set up for flat track, there is more people in my class than the other three class, the top class is the pro class, Ada is loaded with YFZs and 450Rs Quote
ZillaRider02 Posted December 17, 2005 Report Posted December 17, 2005 Yeah, I'm gonna run novice also, I guess. My bike is half-ass setup for Flat Track, we'll see how it goes. Does your bike with the Razrs slide through the corners like it should, or does it try to bite? I know the guy you beat who rides a Warrior with about $10,000 in it, he said he was catching you in the corner, but your were spanking ass down the straight. Do you know anyone with some extra tires for sale? Quote
banshee223 Posted December 17, 2005 Author Report Posted December 17, 2005 No, I wish i knew who had a set for sell, yea in the corners it was grabbing a bad ass rut in 3 and 4, when it was grabbing the ruts, it was causing me to get arm pump and i had to slow down through the corners, if its slick i can slide through the corners and hook up on the straights better than everyone else but when its tacky it will try to grab ruts, the people with flat track tires can throw there bike in the corners harder than i can but on the straightsi'm hooking ass Quote
