01bansheefox Posted December 11, 2005 Report Posted December 11, 2005 I put some 34mm carbs on my shee and for some reason the slides will not close they stay open maybe 3/4 of an inch im guessing they should be closed all the way correct? This is also why im guessing if i start the banshee it sounds like i have the throttle wide open. I am not sure how to adjust this i know it has something to do with the thottle cable and it seems to have extra slack. Quote
aguita Posted December 11, 2005 Report Posted December 11, 2005 make sure u adjust the idle screws..check the cable and look if they close ..if not my guess is that ur idle is too high .. Quote
blueshee03 Posted December 12, 2005 Report Posted December 12, 2005 are they roundslides?if so they are make sure you don't have the slides in backwards. Quote
01bansheefox Posted December 12, 2005 Author Report Posted December 12, 2005 Duh i have turned it all the way in and out, it doesnt change the slide. make sure u adjust the idle screws..check the cable and look if they close ..if not my guess is that ur idle is too high .. 447616[/snapback] 2nd... Roundside carb?? Dont know what that is but the slides can only go in 1 way, for some reason because i tried it wont let me put them in the other way. Quote
FasterThanU90 Posted December 12, 2005 Report Posted December 12, 2005 its either a damaged throttle cable, contaminated or damaged throttle lever, or incorrect throttle cable routing or adjustment or ur carbs just suck Quote
01bansheefox Posted December 12, 2005 Author Report Posted December 12, 2005 So it does have something to do with the cable? My mechanic said the cable was not long enough... Then i went to the store with him and he picked a new one out and said it should be plenty long and when I got home it was the same exact size that was already installed. I did mess with the top of the carb where the cable goes in and it closed the slide quite a bit but i cant figure out the other carb now i have no clue what i did, one is open about 3/4'' and the other about 1/4'' or less,. 01bansheefox Posted December 12, 2005 Author Report Posted December 12, 2005 ya i got a book, would the problem maybe be in there? Similar with all carbs? Quote
FasterThanU90 Posted December 13, 2005 Report Posted December 13, 2005 have u even opened it up? if u have the stock 1 it will tell u how to adjust ur cables and troubleshooting i dont feel like typin all that bullshit if u have a clymer manual like i got it is perfect tells u everything u need 2 kno and more plus full illustrations pick 1 up its a must have(and read the whole thing or at least up 2 chapter 3) Quote
01bansheefox Posted December 13, 2005 Author Report Posted December 13, 2005 I have a clymer but i thought that was for a stock banshee, i dont really have anything stock anymore. Quote
23champ Posted December 13, 2005 Report Posted December 13, 2005 When installing bigger carbs you must replace the throttle cable with one that is recommended for the size, and brand of carbs your using. The stock length cable is simply not long enough. Also have you tried adjusting the brass fittings on top of the carbs? If the carbs are still opened slightly you will have to screw the fittings all the way in. This will allow the cable to sit closer to the top of the carbs, letting the slides close further. Quote
speed_demon Posted December 27, 2005 Report Posted December 27, 2005 2nd... Roundside carb??
