jprog7 Posted December 9, 2005 Report Posted December 9, 2005 (edited) Hi, I've got FMF SSTs, pro flow kit w/K+N, and 21cc dome cool head. The weather is from the mid 20s to 40 degrees and I am nearly at sea level. Maybe 200 ft above at most. The box lid is on and has no holes. I have 280 mains and it seems to carburate well except maybe at about 1/8 to 1/4 throttle where it bogs down bad. Any suggestions are welcome. I just want this thing to pull hard and not stutter anywhere. Thanks, jeff Edited January 2, 2006 by jprog7 Quote
Hilarious Posted December 9, 2005 Report Posted December 9, 2005 I have fatties and the same air filter set up as you With NO lid and v-force3 reed cages. Im runnin 340 mains with clip in the middle position. I also have 27.5 pilots and I think my air screws are out 1.5 turns. It's colder here than a well digger's ass in Idaho and my bike runs good. What size pilots do you have and how many turns in on your air screws? Quote
jprog7 Posted January 2, 2006 Author Report Posted January 2, 2006 Thanks for getting back to me and sorry for the late reply. Stock Pilots and 1.5 turns on the air screws also. Quote
2003LimitedBanshee Posted January 2, 2006 Report Posted January 2, 2006 It sounds as though you may want to bump your pilot up one size to 27.5, with about 1.5 turns on the air screws. 1/8 to 1/4 is technically just a little outside of the range of the pilot, although it will of course affect every throttle position in a minor way, and because you didn't mention any other issues through the midrange I would say Hilarious was right to suspect your pilot. Once you bump your pilot up, adjust the air screws so that you get the best throttle response possible, right of idle. Quote
Banchetta Posted January 2, 2006 Report Posted January 2, 2006 For summer, I'd stick w/ the stock pilots, if it starts kinda hard w/ the cold weather, then put some 27.5's in there...raise your needle, that'll help w/ the low end bog. Try the 4th clip and the 5th clip from the blunt end. Some like the 4th and others like the 5th better dependind on what type of reeds you have...you might want to try the air screw at .5 turn out w/ the stock pilots, see if you throttle is crispier...also you might want to think about upping the mains to 310's for the winter, I'd also modify your air box lid. It'll help your response and give you another 4hp....your holding it back w/ the lid, cut the last 1.5" off the end of the lid right behind the clips so you still have all 4...I just take a skillsaw and do it, takes 2 seconds..
