the reason i am asking is the guy im getting the shee off of says its a 87 but it has a arms top and bottom ,there was no welding done on the frame for the conversion ,so im thinking it might be 97 not 87 havent seen ownership yet to confirm

i believe their are certain numbers on the vin that state what year it is, I dont remeber exactly but their was a thread about it.

do a serch for this info there was a thread that explains about the vins and it will tell you what year a bike you are buying. there is also a kit for converting the j-arms but you would notice the difference with the welds they can't hide them that good.

My '87 is A arms, it was J arms until I put an '04 frame on it. '87-'90 were J-arms the only way it can have A-arms is if it was converted or has a newer frame or it's not an '87-'90 model.
