floyd398 Posted November 13, 2005 Report Posted November 13, 2005 (edited) if I remove the airbox lid. should I install some 220 mains instead of stock 200's? Also can my airfilter pop off with the lid off? 1000 ft elevation thanks Edited November 14, 2005 by floyd398 Quote
floyd398 Posted November 14, 2005 Author Report Posted November 14, 2005 dumb question, I guess . I thought from what people were saying about a big increase in air intake that it would make you lean out a bit. I'll just stay with stock jetting and check my plugs Quote
Hilarious Posted November 14, 2005 Report Posted November 14, 2005 if I remove the airbox lid. should I install some 220 mains instead of stock 200's? Also can my airfilter pop off with the lid off? 1000 ft elevation thanks Throw that stock air filter assembly away and get a pro flow kit with a K&N or UNI aftermarket air filter, pronto. The stock air filter is crap. Put the 240's in and check your plugs. You may need to go up to 250's. Quote
2003LimitedBanshee Posted November 15, 2005 Report Posted November 15, 2005 To answer your questions yes. You should definitely check your jetting because you will flow more air without the lid. You should also invest in a Proflow or similar setup, or eliminate the box all together if you don't ride in a lot of water. The stock filter does use the lid to help seal the filter to the front of the airbox, and I would not trust the seal with the lid, let alone without. Quote
99Banshee Posted November 15, 2005 Report Posted November 15, 2005 I'd through the gay airbox out and get clamp on's..but I dont splash through mud and shit to often so I guess it all depends on the riding you do Quote
ozosborne Posted November 15, 2005 Report Posted November 15, 2005 I've got my lid on with quite a few big holes drilled through. I'm a bit scared of getting muck in there. But on the other hand I ride a lot of mud and dust all the time. Quote
99Banshee Posted November 15, 2005 Report Posted November 15, 2005 I guess you could just cut it all out just leaving the outside frame and screw holes leaving basicaly nothing there but to hold the filter there...or just buy one of them outerwear airbox lids.. Quote
