ke398 Posted November 7, 2005 Report Posted November 7, 2005 I have a '96 I picked up about 8 months ago, it is my first banshee. The plugs are very black, and fouled two sets this summer. Im not sure what mains I am running, I plan on getting a tors removal kit before I yank the carbs for the first time. My logic is that I can run it somewhat rich, and not grenade the motor, while in my two stroke learing curve. My question is, how rich is too rich, it runs great except it bogs in sixth only. Any help is greatly appreciated. Quote
stclark816 Posted November 7, 2005 Report Posted November 7, 2005 Well, if ur fouling plugs, you are way to rich. Running rich is better than running lean. Pull ur carbs off and see what jets you are running. Itll take about 3 minutes to do. Put in smaller mains, do your wide open throttle plug check, see what the plugs look like, and go from there. ke398 Posted November 7, 2005 Author Report Posted November 7, 2005 Thanks for the help, I guess I need to get off of my dead ass, and pull the carbs off. Are these correct jets for stock carbs? http://www.vitosperformance.net/BANSHEE.HT...S-MIKUNI%20CARB Quote
2003LimitedBanshee Posted November 8, 2005 Report Posted November 8, 2005 I don't know if it is just me, but that link did not lead to a specific location. But you want the Mikuni main jets, shown in the middle of the page. If it bogs in 6th (plus you're fouling plugs) you're too rich. Ideally, if you have several sizes of jets at your disposal (I know have everything between 270 and 350, just too make sure I can compensate for all conditions, or in case someone needs a set) you should come down in size until it will pull all the way through 6th with no bog. This is a pretty accurate seat of the pants tuning method. Quote
locogato11283 Posted November 8, 2005 Report Posted November 8, 2005 yea pull your carbs and check the mains. if you are fouling plugs that bad id day you need to drop down at least one main size and maybe 2 depending on how cold it is in your area this time of year. remember that inthe winter youhaveto jet back up for the temp drop but in summer jet back down..
