Wallrat Posted November 6, 2005 Report Posted November 6, 2005 I'm on my 3rd twist throttle since I got my shee and this one is starting to act up. I dunno what it is but it seems like most of the ones out there are plastic pieces of crap. The first one I had worked great but then the plastic cam on the inside that the cable attaches to broke. The 2nd one had a plastic body that practically fell apart on the install (I was at the dunes and in a pinch and it was all they had). The most recent one is this big clunky aluminum job that looks pretty hefty, but now its starting to stick at full closed throttle. Does anybody know of a high end, well made twisty? Quote
Proquad101 Posted November 6, 2005 Report Posted November 6, 2005 I have always used the magura twist throttle. I have a older one on my banshee and it is made of metal, but I just put one on my predator and it is all plastic. So far no problems from the new plastic one. Quote
bkabina Posted November 6, 2005 Report Posted November 6, 2005 I have used the plastic magura for 2 or 3 years with no trouble other than replacing the cable once Quote
tboicelli Posted November 6, 2005 Report Posted November 6, 2005 I was just taling with Chris Carter from Motion Pro and according to him the motion pro twist throttle is the way to go, as long as you keep the housing clean. he says there are sometimes problems with them clogging and getting sticky so he said that all you have to so is after ever couple fo rides shoot in in cable cleaner let it dry and shoot in some light lube. make shure it's a very light lube, most of the chain/cable lubs are too thick. i know toomey makes a kit also but i have no idea how well it works Quote
gatesy Posted November 6, 2005 Report Posted November 6, 2005 I got the motion pro, no problems yet. It has taken a fair beating aswell Quote
Donoyfz450 Posted November 7, 2005 Report Posted November 7, 2005 I had the motion pro on my YFZ and liked it alot. I did however take it apart every few rides and clean it out and re oil it. thats the key,,,,keep it clean and lubed and it will last a looong time! Quote

With that said, Toomey carries the Motion Pro, and seems to back it, as much as you can a twist. Quote
2strokesmoke Posted November 7, 2005 Report Posted November 7, 2005 i have motion pro no probs it is very smooth Quote
Proquad101 Posted November 7, 2005 Report Posted November 7, 2005 I dont know anything about the motion pro, but the thing I like about the magura is that you can change it from 1/4 turn to an enduro setting. I dont know if you can do that with motion pro. I would think that all the different throttles are like just about every other part on the banshee, if you take care of it (cleaning and lubing) it will work good and last a long time. Quote
Ducman Posted November 7, 2005 Report Posted November 7, 2005 I have the motion pro, no problems with it. It looks pretty old school and the range of motion is a little too long IMO to easily just snap it WOT. I might try a 1/4 turn twist throttle one of these days and see if I like it better. I think motion pro makes them too. Quote
tboicelli Posted November 13, 2005 Report Posted November 13, 2005 well actualy yeah, i do think he would tell me the real deal. He is good friends with my brother and has known him for a long time. He actualy convinced me not to get the "Braking" wave rotors because they arent the best, he told me to get the galfer. BTW he finaly sold Braking because they were such crap, thank god i didnt get it like he said. I'm a cabient maker and if somone came to me to get some frameless cabinets i would tell them to go to our competitor becasue their frameless is better. Framless is crap in general so thats realy why we dont want to do that because you can never give a good product Quote
