ogre03 Posted November 3, 2005 Report Posted November 3, 2005 (edited) My bike ran great at around 65-70 deg. this summer, before I had to replace the top end. Now being that I'm in alaska it's about zero, maybe less. And I'm about to put it back together again. What is a good starting point for finding my jetting? I have t6's and a single large foam air filter with no box, and I'm at about 450-500 ft. elevation. Also, are there any bad side effects to running a shee in such cold weather? I know there are a lot of two stroke snowmobiles so it has to be possible. Thanks for the help. Edited November 3, 2005 by ogre03 Quote
odaen Posted November 3, 2005 Report Posted November 3, 2005 for colder air, I think you need to richen your jetting. I dunno how much, because I've never delt with that extreme of temp change. Quote
2003LimitedBanshee Posted November 4, 2005 Report Posted November 4, 2005 My best guess would be 3 (or maybe more) sizes bigger than you were running at 65-70 degrees. Did you have to do the topend becuase you leaned it out?? If so I would go 4+ sizes. I personally don't know of any side effects of that cold of temps, because I don't have the gumption to ride in those elements (although you don't have a choice in Alaska). But I do know I've heard of guys racing Banshees on frozen lakes, so it must be doable, but maybe they take special precautions. Quote
ogre03 Posted November 4, 2005 Author Report Posted November 4, 2005 I'll go ahead and try the +4, it's only going to get colder around here. Do I need to mess with anything other than just the main jets? Quote
Pest Posted November 4, 2005 Report Posted November 4, 2005 I would richen the pilot and clip postion as well, get it fat them lean it down from there. Quote
