Dinner Posted November 2, 2005 Report Posted November 2, 2005 (edited) Hey everyone, just got the shee back. I was getting a new top-end put in it. And so i've been breaking it in tonight, taking it easy, going through the gears no higher than 1/4 throttle, and letting it cool down. But my question is, now with the extra compression, good power. Once it hits the power band its fine. But once you get it revving higher(more throughout the power band) it will all the sudden rev really high, and so i shift and its alright again until i get higher in the power band. And im guessing this could be that my clutch is slipping cause of the "new" power. I have a new stock clutch around, so im wondering if i should just put the all new clutching in. odaen Posted November 2, 2005 Report Posted November 2, 2005 I'd try to adjust it first, quickly. Tighten the adjustment screw on the perch, until you get a little bit of slack in the cable and see if it still slips. It may not wanna idle in gear, but you can take the adjustment back out a little til you hopefully can find a happy medium between no slip, and ease of shifting at low speeds and idle. If you do decide to throw a new clutch in it, find some toomey clutch springs and alternate them with stocks (you'll need 3 of each). Quote

BdBanshee Posted November 3, 2005 Report Posted November 3, 2005 Most of the time with just pipes and head (bolt on mods), you can just get the heavier springs and put in. Quote

You'll see a threaded adjustment there. Loosen the round jam nut and screw the adjustment into the perch until you can see or feel some slack in the lever, not much, but just make sure all of the tension is off of the cable. See if the clutch still slips. Quote

odaen Posted November 3, 2005 Report Posted November 3, 2005 make sure you order a clutch cover gasket when you order the springs. Quote
