There is this thing where it heats up and it melts the tire.  You can put new edges on your tires too.  I don't remember what its called though :P  sorry

yeah, I know what your talking about...tractor pull guys use them to cut their tires, but I don't know what its called either.

 

I usually just used horse hoof trimmers. Pinches the knobs right off, but before I statred usein the hoof trimmers i just used a pair of visegrips (to pull on the lug with) and a razor blade (box knife).

lol. i used a long blade in my sawsall to cut my turf tamers.i aired them up and tried a knife and different things .i noticed my sawsall setting there and got to thinking .it worked great on them.

i used a horse hoof cutter

 

i got it from a farm supply store.

 

30 bucks but works like a charm i will post pic i fyou want of it

The tool your wondering about is called a tire groover! Some mom and pop tire shops have them. There used mostly for tractors,and tractor trailer tires. It works preety good on super swamper tires also, bald tires can have half tread again!
