Hey guys! Just rebuilt (pistons, bore, gaskets) my 97 Shee after getting tired of pull/carb spray starting it. It now starts after 3 kicks and will hold an idle great. The concern is that the right side smokes some, the exhaust has less pressure and is considerably cooler. It only smokes when rapping the throttle. This is the same side as before the rebuild that smoked. It seems like this thing should start easier and have a lot more power. It was a beach quad before I bought it with the cylinders sanded down (one piston just fell out when I removed the cylinder!) I've rebuilt the carbs, replaced spark plugs, jets are at 330 (chocolate brown plugs) and like I said, it idles great, craps out some at bottom (stock reeds) but rockets in the band and above. Where do I start? Crank seal? Bad rebuild? Bad wire or coil? I'm new with 2 strokes diagnosing and leaning on your experience!

Thanks!!

put in new plugs first, i bet one fouled...had the same problem and took me a while to figure out why my single carb setup would only foul one side...leaned her out with the power jet thingy and i haven't had that problem again, might be something more serious, but always start with the obvious

one side of the motor might not fire right

switch plug leads and see if maybe a wire ont he coil isnt bad or the coil itself isnt going

if possible do a leak down test to check out that crank seal on the right side as you might be sucking in some case oil

Sounds kind of silly, but make sure there is nothing clogging the silencer on that side. A friend of mine had his packing get loose and clog that silencer. Couldn't feel the force of the exhuast or the heat like you could the other side, worth a shot.
