87sheerips Posted October 8, 2005 Report Posted October 8, 2005 Looking to get some snowmobile track studs for the ice this winter. This is my first time using this type of stud. Anything special involved?? I was thinking of uding that slime stuff to seal it up good. what would be a good length? Thanks for the input! Quote
87sheerips Posted October 10, 2005 Author Report Posted October 10, 2005 bump, also, instread of using slime to seal the tire, where can u buy tubes?? Quote
420 RACING Posted October 10, 2005 Report Posted October 10, 2005 (edited) I run woodys 1.2 steel traction eliminators 72 per tire. Nothing special other that use that smallest drill you can which is a 7mm track drill. Find a good pattern that will balance at speed. I put a layer of carpet between the studs and the tube, and have not had a problem. Where you going to be going to?? Edited October 10, 2005 by 420 RACING Quote
locogato11283 Posted October 10, 2005 Report Posted October 10, 2005 are you gonna be dragging or just goin out and f**kin around?? if you arent dragging just get you some sheet metal screws(not self tappers) and run them right into the tire..youll have to have about 3/4" of tread for this to work..prolly about 200 per tire and it works great in snow under about 8 inches and on ice they hook hard..rode the same set for 2 winters now on ice, snow and pavement with little to no wear...if you are dragging id prolly try those ice stud..but $72 per tire...ouch.. 87sheerips Posted October 12, 2005 Author Report Posted October 12, 2005 Ill be out at White Lake, Mostly draggin, but also pullin my buddies around on a sled or snowboard too. The screws seem to rip out too easy , so I was thinkin of going with studs to really hook up, and to stay hooked up. Where can I find a tube at??? Hey 420, U at white lake there arent you?????? Quote
