JohnZ Posted October 5, 2005 Report Posted October 5, 2005 If a guy was to say dump maybe 1500 into a banshee motor for duning, which way would you go?, can a guy reach high 50's in hp? How would you go about building your motor? Quote
iceman Posted October 5, 2005 Report Posted October 5, 2005 do a port and some pipes. youd probably make 50 if you went with a drag port and some inframes. Quote
rocketboy Posted October 5, 2005 Report Posted October 5, 2005 shearers 450$ vforce 200$ dune port 375$ k&N with outerware 50$ cut head 100$ 33pwk carbs 325$ ------------------- $1,500 around 60 -70 rwhp depending on who ported it ! another few hundred dollars for a full drag port 350 motor Quote
switchblade Posted October 5, 2005 Report Posted October 5, 2005 Do you have a complete motor to start with? Quote
AK Rider Posted October 9, 2005 Report Posted October 9, 2005 How far do you suggest to mill the head? .030? Quote
2003LimitedBanshee Posted October 10, 2005 Report Posted October 10, 2005 do a port and some pipes. youd probably make 50 if you went with a drag port and some inframes. 423377 You should be able to make around 50 without the drag port or inframes. Toomey shows a dyno run with their T6's making over 50 HP. Of course they don't point out whether that is at the crank or at the rear wheels. But still add some timing, ditch the airbox and jet it right and you should be at or above 50 before you port. (I know we're not talking pipes, but pick something other than T6's if you plan to port). Quote

How would you go about building your motor? 423350 you can get to high 40's/ 50 with pipes alone...and with little bolt ons/mods 50+. 1500 should be more than enough for building a duner. the way "I" would go is with davemooreracing.com ... a member here has dealt with him I think mp350 Quote
Polish Posted October 10, 2005 Report Posted October 10, 2005 before I went with a stroker motor.........I had T5's, port, milled head, 2 k + n cans and bigger carbs..........and it squeezed almost 58 HP............IT RIPPED Quote
reded Posted October 10, 2005 Report Posted October 10, 2005 Buy a set of cubs $875 Drag Pipes off Ebay $400 Set of 35mm or bigger carbs $300 -------- Total $1575 Not gonna win too many drags with 60hp. Better shoot for 90hp. Quote

You will also need a longer swingarm, some paddles that will handle that kind of power and if your really serious an override. Quote
reded Posted October 10, 2005 Report Posted October 10, 2005 I've been running a FAST Racing clutch with no lockup, still holding. Don't know how long it will last but its put in 50 or 60 runs so far. You're right on the swinger and tires tho....I'm running a +6 with 10 paddle Haulers. Quote

PassionRE Posted October 10, 2005 Report Posted October 10, 2005 (edited) If a guy was to say dump maybe 1500 into a banshee motor for duning, which way would you go?, can a guy reach high 50's in hp? How would you go about building your motor? 423350 You can easily get into the 60-65 hp range for around $750.00 if you have decent pipes already, port and polish, bore job, piston sets, Noss head. Not really a full tilt drag motor, but you were asking about high 50's so it might interest you..Jim Edited October 10, 2005 by PassionRE Quote
