cronstar Posted September 22, 2005 Report Posted September 22, 2005 ok, if anyone has read my other post they know i have my bike in the shop right now getting a new top end. they called me up today and told me that the bushings (i think it's what he said) in the upper a arms are shot and need to get replaced. he quoted me a price of $200 to put them in and parts were i think about another $200. he said like $49 each side and you need 2 for each side? does that sound right. and that seems like something i can do myself. what do you guys think? thanks Quote
MDS2106 Posted September 22, 2005 Report Posted September 22, 2005 You can get the whole set on e-bay for about $15.00 and do it yourself Quote

DUNEDEMON Posted September 22, 2005 Report Posted September 22, 2005 (edited) A-arm bushings are simple to replace, and cheap insurance. Worn bushings can cause the font end to articulate out of its normal path of travel and lead to bent shock shafts (been there) Pivot works makes a really nice A-arm bearing kit that works great ( no problem with mine yet ). The factory nuts on the A-arm bolt are re-useable lock nuts that will not loosen. Be careful not to over tighten the bolts when re-installing the arms as they can be pre-loaded causing rough / harsh ride and poor suspension movement. Feel free to ask any questions you may have. http://www.pivotworks.com/search.asp?notra...nshee&Year=1997 Edited September 22, 2005 by DUNEDEMON Quote
wooten Posted September 23, 2005 Report Posted September 23, 2005 so what is the best method in replacing the bushings dunedemon Quote
DUNEDEMON Posted September 23, 2005 Report Posted September 23, 2005 Not much to it really, get the arms off the bike, remove the end washer cups, clean the seals, remove the pivot tubes, remove the old bushings, clean inside of the arms, grease new bushings & old pivot tubes, reverse the process. Very simple job, no special tools needed, should only take you about an hour and a half. Quote
wooten Posted September 26, 2005 Report Posted September 26, 2005 alright man thanbks for the input Quote
