Rodeoranger Posted September 20, 2005 Report Posted September 20, 2005 If my stator got wet and corroted is it possible to loose spark. I pulled cover off and water came out it also has some corrorsion. I am not getting spark after reving it up from idle. Cleaned it up really good but no luck. Do I need a new stator? Is it that obvious? Just want to make sure I spend the Money for the right part. Quote
itsaripper Posted September 21, 2005 Report Posted September 21, 2005 First take a hair dryer and set it about 10 inches away from it and let it dry that thing out good. Take some compressed air and blow the stator off. I am assumeing you did pull the flywheel. If you haven't do it first. USE A FLYWHEEL PULLER. Lightly sand the magnets inside the flywheel. Look it over good for loose wires and or bear wires. Clean the ground off that is on one of the three bolts holding on the stater. Put flywheel back on and try it. If still no spark, Yep you have to get a new stator. Quote
RNBRAD Posted September 21, 2005 Report Posted September 21, 2005 You need to check a resistance through the stator. You could also have cdi box or coil problems. Quote
thegroup Posted September 21, 2005 Report Posted September 21, 2005 if its the stator, once u get a new put in, silicone the shit out of the cover. my buddy's 03 looked like it had been underwater for about 5 yr suprised the damn thing would even start and run it was so bad Quote
