AllMotor347 Posted September 12, 2005 Report Posted September 12, 2005 (edited) Today I was out riding with a few buddies and I was ripping down this dirt road, and I could tell the maching was running hot because it was losing power, so i decided to stop and let it idle and cool off, then it stalls out on me, I try kicking it and theres nothing, then i try to kick is and the thing wont budge, So I figure its heat siezed, I let it cool off for about 45 minutes and tried to kick it again and its still stuck but it was still pretty warm I havnt been able to kick it lately so im not sure if its still stuck, I am wondering if I should be worried and also, HOW DO YOU GUYS GET YOUR MACHINE TO RUN COOL? AllMotor347 Posted September 12, 2005 Author Report Posted September 12, 2005 should i worry about the stuck pistons or you think theyll free up? Quote
theeechozen1 Posted September 12, 2005 Report Posted September 12, 2005 oversized rad! I run mine with a stock head and can beat her all day in triple digits without cooling issues. I would pull the head and take a look to see how bad it's stuck and try to free it up from there. Quote
2strokesmoke Posted September 12, 2005 Report Posted September 12, 2005 if it got that hot to seize up you should tear it down for a look so you dont cause more damage good luck try a cool head check your mixture if it is lean it will run hot Quote

AllMotor347 Posted September 13, 2005 Author Report Posted September 13, 2005 any other advice on keeping the shee cool Quote
Gargamel Posted September 13, 2005 Report Posted September 13, 2005 ......... so i decided to stop and let it idle and cool off,.........................414219 Stop and let it idle will make it not cool down. You need air through the radiator or shut it down to let it cool off. I run woods all day with no coolong issues. And I got stock rad. and head. I would check your impeller and gears as stated above. Use an inline and engine ice. Thats all I run. Quote
AllMotor347 Posted September 13, 2005 Author Report Posted September 13, 2005 When you shut an engine down it actually heats up because there is no coolant flowing through it, letting it idle keeps the coolant flowing Quote
biggun6ss Posted September 13, 2005 Report Posted September 13, 2005 When you shut an engine down it actually heats up because there is no coolant flowing through it, letting it idle keeps the coolant flowing 414472 Friction causes heat. The banshee motor is liquid cooled. The liquid is cooled by air passing through the fins in the radiator. If there is no air passing through the fins, the liquid does not cool. It might cool down eventually, on a cold day. Letting it idle will not make it cool down, it might even get hotter. Shutting the engine down stops all parts from moving so the engine isn't causing any more heat. It may take a while to cool but it will. Quote
AllMotor347 Posted September 13, 2005 Author Report Posted September 13, 2005 Look, the engine is at its hottest when you first shut it down because there is no coolant flowing, coolant flow cools the engine Quote
aguita Posted September 13, 2005 Report Posted September 13, 2005 and the banshee cooling sistem is not like cars that has a water pump so u can let it idle for not to long..the banshee impeller moves when the engine is running..cuz the impeller is moved by gears so the gears need to b in movement so they can work Quote
