Hey guys and gals,

Went and ordered a cascade throttle extender. Went to install it and seen that my throttle cable was about to break. called local dealership and bought one. The next day i removed old cable from 98 shee and installed new cable. went prety smooth with no problems. put shee all back together and now she won't start. it has been sitting for about 4 months. Last time i worked on it it started and ran great. checked for spark and it appeared to be weak. have good fuel. Also what is the round screw looking things on top of the tors? messed with one of them and still won't start. Could it be a cdi? coil? or something else. Any help would be great.

Shee needs air/fuel/spark to run. if one of these things arent happening there your problem if you say you have weak spark that could be your problem get a multimeter and test stator and coil to see what your read outs are from there on its process of elimination...............do a search

scooter sounds like maybe you had a ring stuck or something. I don't recommend pulling any atv too start it, could cause even worse problems. DIRTMAN test you electrical equip and post back I'm positive the guys on here will help you get it running right.

You said it has been sitting 4 months? Gas could have goo'd up or the oil on the plugs could have formed into some sort of thick molucules. I'd start with the easy things first, new gas, new plugs, if new plugs dont work then try un screwing the spark plug caps and clip a 1/8 inch off the end and screw the caps back on. The ends sometimes go bad causing bad spark.

endo i didnt pull start it just pushed it down the drive way im stil baffeled if a ring stuck would it still kick over easy this is a new quad stock engine with toomey t6s has allways started on the first or second kick i didnt think it could flood that fast either the plugs were a little rich but not bad but i replaced them and it still would not start i pushed it down the drive way a couple times and it fired hesitated a little the picked up blew out some smoke and ran fine shut it off two or thre times after letting it idle a bit and it fires first kick again weird thanks for the help

i'd pull the carbs off and clean them up real good. maybe you dropped some dirt in there while doing the cable or something, or it's gummed up from setting so long. make sure the carbs are in sync and that you have the crossover tube back on. make sure you have the bowl with the 'starter jet' on the left carb. make sure you have the throttle valves facing the right way, the cut out side faces the air box. if you have the carbs in sync, whatever you turn on one of the idle screws atop the TORS that you do the same with the other. clean your air filter too. if you have spark and getting fuel, it should take off pretty easy, if everything was cool before letting it set. UPDATE:

My father and I went and looked at it and I did not have the carbs in sync just right when looking thru the sight glass on the sides of the carbs. Adjusted them with the throttle cabels and installed new plugs again and she finally started and ran. After running for awhile it died. Tryed to start again and no start. Now, i getting upset. And out of the blue my dad asked is the fuel turned on. I said yes and then looked down and sure as shit it was turned off. turned on fuel choked her and she fired right up. Thanks for all the help. I can always rely on good advice here. Latter guys and gals and ride safe.
