i'm new to this forum and new to banshees all together. i just bought a banshee and am having a hard time starting it. everybody just keeps telling me it's just cuz it's a 2 stoke. once i finally get it started, 15 minutes to a half hour later, and kicking it 200 times, and it's warm, then it's fine and will start normally. it runs good and everything, what can be the problem. and one more thing, is ther anything i can check out to make sure i got a good one and didn't get ripped off, keep in mind i don't know much about them, but again, it seems to run fine once i get it started. thanks for you help.

First of all, welcome to BHQ the greatest banshee resource in the WORLD.

If you have a hard time starting it, check the compression, drain all the fuel out of the tank and clean the carbs and clean the air filter.

Then get back to us. We'll get you up and running.

thanks for all the quick replies. i know the gas is good, and the air filters are clean, just did both of those, and the plugs are brand new. but as far as the carbs go and cleaning them i haven't done that. how do i clean those. and how do i check the compression? i hate to ask all the basic questions that you guys probly get sick of, but really i have no idea what i'm doing. thanks again.

make sure your choke tube is in between the carbs. those fall off a lot. it is just a little vacumn line about 3 inches long that goes between the carbs towards the tops of the carbs. it should be black. listen to holyman too check the compression. go to parts store and buy a compression tester for 30 bucks that fits chevy engines. most are pretty generic. they fit a lot of cars. take the plugs out screw the compression tester in and hold the throttle wide open and kick the bike till the needle gets to the highest point. then check the other cylinder the same way. you should have at least 110 pounds to start the bike on both cylinders, but stock motors with good rings usually have around 120 psi depending on your altitude.i have seen them run on as low as 90 psi, but that is too low and needs rebiult. but check that tube on the carbs just pull the seat off and look down at the carbs. if that is it it is a free repair and takes about 5 minutes to put that on. more inf will help us diagnose the problem better. and welcome to B.H.Q.

hey 2twin350s, i took some pictures of my carbs tonight. can you tell if that tube you were talking is on there. i'm thinking it's not. is it suppose to be at the end of the choke, going to the 2nd carb?

It does look like it is installed. I can't be totally sure from the pictures you have here, but I think it is showing up there. The tube should start from the right side of the left-hand carb, directly opposite where the choke enters the body of the carb. It should run straight across to the left-hand side of the right side carb. Hopefully the arrows will give you at least a better clue as to where to look for the tube. I would also agree that you should probably clean the carbs thoroughly, as any little debris can cause a big problem.

well if it's like you said, supposed to be on the exact opposinte side of the choke and going over to the 2nd carb, then no it's not there. so if i get a vaccum hose on there, what purpose will that serve? when i pull the choke out what exactley does that do? hopefully that will solve some of my problem, i do need to still clean the carbs but just haven't had the time. thanks for the input.

The carbs are sucking too much air putting the cross over tube will eliminate the air from entering the carbs and lets the choke close of the air from both allowing the gas to start it.
